To me it is really a simple question:
Does the green party have official party status?
They do not, So as the majority of Canadians have spoken already!!
I watched the Debates last time and she had nothing to add, Green for the sake of Green disregard everything else. Just like David Suzuki with his "the Science Is Already In" nonsense.
There is not a huge apitite for the Green agenda, there may have been a need in the past, But green initiatives are everywhere and there is nothing stopping any of the acreditted parties from offering Green in thier campaigns
May does not even have a seat in parlament, perhaps she should start there and earn the voice that goes along with building a Party that actually governs.
my personal opinion is that the time is so limited in debates it should not be lost to a leader that leads nothing!

May referred to feeling like she was in grade school at the last debate...maybe that's why she sounds like she's on the verge of a tantrum when she might be excluded. Maybe some of the candidates with the most to lose just want her there for some much needed muscle.

They shouldn't have anything to do with the debate without a single seat. Sorry Green Party -- you can't solve the country's problems with hugs.

This lady should be allowed in the debate because she would address the environment issues that companies and individuals face...Its would make the debate a lot more interesting...than name calling...

The Green Party should be part of any National debate. In the last election Elizabeth May made a great contribution and she should have the opportunity to do so again this time.
I am dismayed that the news had shut out the Green Party. Every day the summurize what the leaders have said that day without including Elizabeth May's Green Pary comments. Now the are excluding her from the debates. We need to hear of elvironmental concerns and the need for high speed trains in Canada.

To put it bluntly - if her party received a reasonable amount of the popular vote (almost 7% in the last election) than she clearly represents a noticable portion of the populate of Canada and should be allowed to particpate in the leaders debate.
She's the leader of an offical party in Canada and I think with a strong showing in the current polling number and the partys representation in the popular vote in the last election has every right to be included in the debate.

Maybe she will out debate all of the others. She seems quite intelligent and knowledgeable as to what matters. The Conservatives as well as the Liberals can promise anything you want to hear to get elected,... because once in office .....oops...... no money. They are not held accountable for their promises and lies.

After seeing her in the last debates, I have no problem with this. Watching her last time I felt the only things missing from her performance were the frothing of the mouth and gnashing of the teeth . Thanks, but no thanks Liz, all you seem capable of is attacking like some rabid pit dog.

The only reason the liberals/NDP/Bloc want Elizabeth in the debate, it is one more voice for their coalition to bash the PM... All she did during the last debate was interrupt... and bash the PM and that is what they all want. If our PM does not win a majority - the coalition will ask Elizabeth to join their ranks. As noticed today - we have an NDP candidate dropping out to support the liberals. It is one of the same - any one of those parties that are elected, will be in the coalition. The NDP/liberals and Bloc are not saying one word against each other - it is all Stephen Harper, so if Stephen Harper does not get a majority - do you think they will not join together to form a coalition? It is only the media that is trying their best not to allow this topic to be heard....

Can anyone tell me who in any part of Canada cares what the Bloc will do if they are elected to the govt of Canada? They should not be part of the debate until they have a candidate in ridings across this country.
The Green party should be there. This is not about what was in the house of commons, this is about the future. When I see candidates listed on my voting form, I want to know what they or their party stands for.

We are supposed to be a democracy as a legitimate national party leader she should be allowed to promote and argue the Green party views.

Neither the Bloc or the Green party should be present during the national debate. The bloc because they are regional party, and the Green because they have zero HoC seats. And holding 7% of the popular vote means nothing under our system of government if they don't have HoC seat.

Elizabeth May is Stephen Harper's secret weapon and best hope. Her grab of 10% vote last time just split the votes in Harper's favor. Her party has no MP in the parliament and is not entitled to the debate. History is in danger of repeating itself if people waste their vote in her and help Harper to the majority.

May does NOT provide perspective . She provides hot air , rhetoric and spin to a very necessary debate ; she is not in a position to effect the outcome nor does she represent a constituency that is able or willing to argue with logic . Logic is needed not emotion . She is a waste of time putting her thoughts into the equation

Right now no party has a seat in the House of Commons, so the excuse to exclude makes no sense. Include the Green Party in the Debates! Maybe drop the Bloc!

In the last election, Greeens were only party to GAIN SEATS
Posted by: RAY HEARD | 03/30/2011 at 05:05 PM
Canadians fund the Green Party through our taxes, because they get more than 2% of the vote. We deserve to see what we're paying for.

So what about the leaders of other extremist parties with no seats in the House of Commons ? Should they also be allowed to take part in the debates ?
Posted by: Brian Lees | 03/30/2011 at 05:24 PM
Elizabeth May has not even been able to win a seat in th Commons in a bye-election...and not much chance to win a seat on May 2nd. The Greens are just a wacko fringe element in Canada - similar to the Communist Party of Canada.
Eliz May can offer nothing at all for all Canadians....May is just looking to spend sufficient time in the Commons to garner a pension and other perks.

Of course Elizabeth May should be in the debates! I remember last time she was the most interesting of all candidates, all parties must be represented! Over one million Canadians voted for Green in the last election. What is happening to Canadian democracy?

Democracy, is amiss in Canadian Politics!

May should join the Liberals where she has a chance to use her obvious talents. She is intelligent and articulate and occasionally has something to say that is worth listening too. But she is not doing anybody any good by flogging the dead horse called the Green Party.
