Rest in Peace :( You were a good man, and had so much life left for you to live. My heart goes out to your family. I am so shocked and saddened by this news.

wow 3 dead in 3 months...
TIME FOR THE NHL TO DO SOMETHING!

What sad news - the guy was all personality in public. Condolences to his family

RIP Belak. You have always been my favorite enforcer. Wish the Belak family the best.

Wade Belak = Hustle + Heart + Respect
All the stuff you can't teach! Team Heaven just got a little bit tougher and a whole lot more Canadian!

RIP Wade.... it was an honour to watch you play in the blue and white... you were one of the best guys on the ice to watch. You will truly be missed.

Shocking and heartbreaking. He will be missed. I can't imagine what his family and loves one are going through. I never met Wade and this is hard enough for me to take let alone them.

RIP Wade.

This news makes me sick to my stomach. RIP Wade Belak.

This is so perplexing...perhaps the commonality of these 3 players that recently passed, beyond the obvious, was that they were all now at the fringe of the game, either fighting injury or age. Perhaps this displacement from the game gave them too much time alone, where the demons could crop up and be magnified. Perhaps this fact, compounded with taking regular physical abuse on the ice for so many years has manifested itself in the worst way this summer. Whatever it is, I hope the NHL attempts to get to the bottom of the issue, and get treatment to those that need it. I used to like watching fights, but I don't think I will like them much now, understanding more of what these types of players go through.

I'm in shock...stunned. Terrible horrible news. RIP Belak

it's all about the star ... try to use the judgement and restraint you exercised on the layton story.

RIP Belak. Gone but never forgotten

This is just so sad. He was such a great guy and seemed always happy and upbeat.
Wade, you are gone but not be forgotten. Leafs fans will remember you as a great Leaf and a great guy. We will remember you as the one who stood up for Kabie after he was hit by Jenssen...
R.I.P. Wade

wow - when he was 30 and asked in an interview where he'd be in 10 years...his first response was "dead"...sad and ironic. Loved that guy. Great on the Dean Blundel show too...favorite interview was when he called Sean Avery a Douche lol

RIP Wade. You will be missed.

Let's not assume anything until the autopsy report, because its seemed that Belak was still at the top of his game, maybe in transition, but his final tweets suggest he was still a healthy, happy guy. It could have been a heart attack for all we know. In any case, he was was one of those people who "gave" a lot in his life, and should be remembered for his bright light and for everyone he touched and loved, not only for his hockey skills. R.I.P. Wade Belak

Wade, you were one of a kind. Heartfelt condolences to your family, you touched a lot of hearts with your grit and determination.

Wow... Sad...Shocking... Wade, you'll be missed by everyone. It says a lot when you're leaving Toronto was harder to handle than Sundin's. RIP.

RIP Wade Belak.you were as tough as they come.u always had u r teammates back. You and Probert together theres a team that will always be a winner.Thoughts and prayers are with your family and friends.RIP BIG GUY.

My heart is so sad for yet another family who has been shocked and had a life stolen away by something that is going on inside of a brain. My nephew, who sustained several childhood concussions and many head blows as an athlete, never had a sign of deprerssion. He was getting A's at a top college, dating, applied for a Study abroad, and had made all sorts of future plans before he hanged himself in his dorm Dec. 5th. Something happens in the brain. I believe Boston University research is pinning it down: now what are we willing to do to protect these athletes from head trauma so that we are all protected from the heartache of suicide? PLEASE DO SOMETHING!!!
