Jack Layton took a hard line on two out of three questions about sovereignty Monday.
First there was the question of American submarines creeping into Canada’s Arctic waters. Layton emphasized the importance of Canada acting to prevent any further arctic incursions.
Then there was the question of the RCMP arresting Abdullah Khadr at the Americans’ request. Layton said he it somewhat concerned him.
But when reporters asked him about the possibility of shaving his famous moustache, Layton ceded all sovereignty to his wife, Olivia Chow. “It’ s up to Olivia as all personal matters ultimately must be,” he said. “And we’ve had 20 very happy years following those rules, all of which had the moustache involved, by the way.”
