It seems like NDP Leader Jack Layton does nothing but visit people at their kitchen table.
Since he started his fledgling election campaign he has issued those words more than a dozen times to convince people that he is a man of the people. "Everywhere I go - at every kitchen table where I hear what matters to working families - I hear the same thing. I hear anger and frustration."
In tonight's speech in Vancouver he uttered the words five times, often to say Prime Minister Stephen Harper is only interested in the people around board room tables.

Richard, the kitchen table is the perfect symbolism for Jack and New Democrat MPs. They do care about the issues and concerns that affect the average Canadian. When folks worry about disappearing jobs, Jack worries about it and offers real solutions to help the economy. At dinner when families talk about how to reduce their energy use because it's too expensive or because they want to help the environment, Jack and the NDP Caucus offers an approach that ensures that there are caps on big corporate emitters and federal funds that will help cities afford more transit so that those families have transportation options. Enough with your cynicism. Jack and the New Democrats are the only ones in this election that offer real change. Jack for PM!!!!

Visiting kitchen tables seems to be the cliche du jour of this campaign.
I couldn't help but laugh at how stiff the PM looked in his little blue sweater, sitting at the table of the Huang family of B.C., trying to thrust a small Canadian flag into the hands of their toddler. Even the small child rejected the flag (and ploy, I suspect) of Stevie boy. He reminds me of the fat kid that got beat up every day at school and is now exacting his revenge on all of Canada!
