Give George Stroumboulopoulos, host of CBC's The Hour, full marks for cutting to the chase.
Interviewing NDP Leader Jack Layton for tonight's show, "Stroumbo" had the travelling press pack in stitches.
He asked Layton if it was wise to keep saying he was going to be Prime Minister.
"Keep talking like this, people are going to think you smoke pot," said the host.
Later, Layton insisted he "didn't get into politics to be in opposition."
Not missing a beat, Stroumboulopoulos cracked: "Why did you join the NDP?"
The Hour airs at 11 pm on the CBC's main network.

Absolutely loved Stroumboulopoulos's interview with NDP leader. Layton's current ideology is a far cry from Tommy Douglas and NDP origins: bringing fairness and justice to all Canadians. How like George to put his finger right on the pulse and have Layton expose his agenda to become PM. At whatever cost, backroom deals and all.

I saw the interview, and I thought Layton did well, and was sincere in his wish to bring fairness and justice to all Canadians. The statement from another poster about "backroom deals and all" makes me wonder if he/she was watching the same program. There was not the slightest implication of anything uncouth in how Layton was going about his campaign to be Prime Minister.
