From Baun to Shewfelt, Puck to Pluck ...

Okay, so Maple Leafs' defenceman Bobby Baun is a legend for scoring an overtime Stanley Cup goal on a broken leg. So what does that make Canadian gymnast Kyle Shewfelt if he comes back from TWO broken legs to win an Olympic medal in Beijing?

Shewfelt took another incredible step in his journey back from the horrific injury he suffered in practice at last year’s world championships in Germany when he was named last night to the Canadian men’s team for the Beijing Games.

The 2004 Olympic champion on floor is writing a remarkable blog where he lays it all out on a consistent basis, heart and soul.

There is definitely a Laumannesque type element to Shewfelt’s gutsy effort. It will be one of the great storylines for Canada in China.

Great Scott: Another guy providing a really interesting perspective on the Road to Beijing is CBC's Scott Russell.

Russell has a great passion for all things Olympic and it shows in his TV work and also in his blog, which is really worth checking out. He puts a lot of thought and effort into it and it's not bad writing for a TV guy, eh.
