Perdita Finds Some Softer Hurdles ...

WINDSOR -- Perdita Felicien was doing hurdles here today.

Okay, it was really foam blocks with a stick on top and she was leading a group of kids through the event as part of a Run, Jump and Throw event for Athletics Canada sponsor RBC at the Olympic Track and Field Trials.

It was a cool event for kids. Shot putter Dylan Armstrong taught the kids the fine art of his event using bean bags. Kevin Sullivan, the veteran 1,500-metre runner, gave them some tips on passing the baton in a relay, even if he couldn’t remember the last time he’d actually passed one himself.

It’s funny how even at something as innocuous and fun as an event like that, there are some parents who just don’t get it.

During one of the relays, a mother could be heard yelling at her son, who was in hot pursuit of a little girl.

“C’mon, don’t let a girl beat you!”

Sheesh.
