Diana Ross plays Roy Thomson Hall

Steve Russell - Staff Photographer

We shoot a lot of concerts at the Star, but you know it is a big deal when the concert is at Roy Thomson Hall and they want to get the picture as soon as possible to get into the edition as quickly as possible!

We only had two songs to shoot, "The Boss" and "More Today Than Yesterday", but Ross is such a professional, that is all we needed.

The light was great about 500 at f/ 5.6, ISO 1600, way brighter than I thought.

Funny thing, they told us that we will be shooting from the sound board so I brought a 500 mm lens with me, thinking that we were going to be way back. It had been a while since I shot at that venue. Turns out that it was a little like going back to visit your old grade school. The building that seemed huge long ago, seems so small now!

This is almost full frame with the 500, a little tighter than I wanted to be.

She must workout, it was like she stepped out of a time machine!

Beautiful work Steve! I've seen Miss Ross on this tour at several stops, and am amazed by her vitality. 66 never looked so good, and you captured her perfectly!

Wonderful images of my lifelong Muse.....Diana....

The bottom photo captures her classy persona perfectly at the top of her game !

It is easy to forget she and her Motown family came from an era of having their 'Motown Revue' Buses shot at in the deep south, having to use segregated 'wash rooms' and facing 'no service' in restaurants just because of their colour....in the Sixties/Seventies.... to raising a family of five and performing in the best halls of the world 50 years later !!! 'Ain't No Mountain High Enough'... is hers and our anthem !!!

Thank You Steve...

P.S how can I get colour copies???

Achei o máximo o figurino! Digno de uma Diva!
Embora não tenha assistido ao show, soube de fontes fidedigneas que foi um espetáculo!
