Queen Elzabeth II attends the 151st running of the Queen's Plate.

Steve Russell and Tara Walton - Staff Photographers

Covering the Queen's Plate is always a fun and special assignment. Having the Queen in attendance at the 151st running of the race, the oldest throughbred race in North America makes covering the race a logisical challenge.

The first Queen's plate was awarded by Queen Victoria. Queen Elizabeth II has attended the race four times in her reign.

Marvellous photos. Star still upholding their tradition of royal photographer.

It was the first tme in my life to go to a horse race track and bet on horses...I had lots of fun and the reason why i went there was to have a glimpse of Queen Elizabeth ll and Prince Phillip...that was an experience of a lifetime and i can tell that story to my future grand children that i had a great privelege to see the Queen even from a distance... I thank God for that wonderful oppurtunity and may God Bless the Queen... :)

Quite a marvelous experience at the Plate to, serendipitously,be 2ft. from her Royal Highness as she made her way on the red carpet after the 8th race. A young boy, bearing a bouquet, made his way beside me, and asked the mountie nearby if he could present the flowers. She told him if he was lucky the Queen may accept them.SHE DID! The young man told her ,that the flowers were for her and he hoped she'd enjoy them. She stopped ,took the bouquet ,thanked him and said she would. Amazing! ...and I was right there, very happy indeed! My husband took a great pic which I will cherish.I'll never be that close to a Queen again!!
Long may she reign!
