We begin with a look back at Jack...
RANDY RISLING - Olivia Chow works on the Jack Layton Memorial sculpture titled "Jack's Got Your Back" at MST Bronze in Etobicoke. The sculpture was unveiled on the second anniversary of Jack's death, August 22 at the Toronto Island Ferry Terminal. Olivia holds a Fine Arts degree and is a trained sculptor.
RICHARD LAUTENS - Manoraniana's husband (in white shirt) is comforted in front of the casket and a photo of his wife. Manoranjana Kanagasabapathy, 52, was killed in a TTC bus crash when a truck collided with the bus.
TARA WALTON - Nathan Isaacs, a 90-year-old WWII veteran who flew 35 missions as a navigator in the bomber command poses for a portrait holding a photo of his crew whom he worked with for all 35 missions. More than 70 years later, the Canadian government is honouring those who served in the Bomber Command with special bars in commemoration of their service.
COLIN MCCONNELL - City councillor Gary Crawford working on his painting of Mayor Rob Ford that has taken months and is a labour of love.He is working in his basement studio in Scarborough and the portrait is for the Mayors mother.
STEVE RUSSELL - Chef Susur Lee hosts a group of high school students at his King St. restaurant "Lee" to show them his place and then chat about how to make healthy food tasty. The chef is part of a TDSB campaign, led by its support workers' union (CUPE) to find a way to make school cafeterias attractive to teenagers while complying with the tough new healthy food guidelines imposed in 2008 by Queen's Park.
RICK MADONIK - The surgical team rolls the horse back toward the recovery room following a 22 minute surgery to remove bone fragments. Toronto Equine Hospital Dr. Darryl Bonder is a vet who works with horses. The hospital is on the border between Mississauga and Toronto.
DALE BRAZAO - I you ever wanted to try your hand at running with the bulls or bullfighting this is your chance. Thousands of Portuguese Canadians descended on Madeira Park south of Sutton to take part in a two day picnic and festival which included amateur bull fighting. Member of the public if they have enough nerve could jump into the ring and try their hand at bullfighting. Some used towels, umbrellas or t-T-shirts to urge the bulls to charge.
TARA WALTON - Facility manager Lee Parker of Reptilia, a reptile zoo and education facility in Vaughan moves the zoo's African Rock Python within its enclosure Tuesday August 6, 2013. Another snake of the same species is thought to have strangled two boys while sleeping in a New Brunswick apartment in the same building as the reptile store where the snake escaped.
