The morning sun illuminates detail in Damien Hirst's bronze sculpture of a pregnant woman on October 17, 2012 in Ilfracombe, England. The bronze-clad, sword-wielding 65ft (20m) statue, named Verity, has been controversially given to the seaside town by the artist, on a 20-year loan and was erected yesterday by crane onto the harbour pier.

This is just so amazing! I was taken in awe by the sheer grandeur of this statue. It has such an aura of power to it, between sword thrusted into the sky and gargatuan proportions, which I think is highly fitting considering the power a mother has. I think it's great that a mother, as opposed to powerful male leaders, is being embodied in such a powerful form of dignity and respect in a statue. Fantastic, thanks for posting!
