A 19-year-old seamstress, Reshma Begum, who survived for 17 days in the rubble of a collapsed garment factory building left the hospital Thursday with a new job at an international hotel chain. Begum had vowed never again to work in a garment factory after she was rescued from the wreckage of the eight-storey Rana Plaza building, where 1,129 people were killed in April in the world’s worst garment industry disaster. She will trade in the monthly wage of $65 that she used to earn for a basic salary of $450 in her new role welcoming guests.
