Cigars all around
This one just arrived in the inbox, and it's no surprise. To mangle an old saw, a game is only a game - but a good cigar is a smoke:
Funny how this kind of stuff the IOC is worried about is celebrated and indeed televised into the living rooms of the nation in the world of men's pro sports, isn't it?"Although the International Olympic Committee is ready to rain on the celebration parade of the Canadian Women's Hockey Team, one company stands behind the cigar smoking and wine guzzling gold medal champions, Gurkha Cigars! The luxury cigar brand, Gurkha Cigars, is in full support of the group of athletes that were simply celebrating their victory and has even overnighted cases of their new Triad Cigar in order to show it.
"Whether they can or can't attend Sunday's closing ceremonies, these ladies will be celebrating in high luxury with $50 a pop smokes and $1,000 cases. Gurkha has also created a Facebook fan page so others can show their support on behalf of the hockey team: Support Canada's Women's Hockey Team."

Got get e'em girls How do you expect them to celebrate - nail police and a hair do !!!!!!!!!! They responded in an appropriate manner to express their combined joy at winning in Casnada - a fine achievement - and what is more they demonstrated that they are normal people who kno whow to celebrate and show their supports how much the win meant to them. The press seems to want make this a story, it's not. Let the Americans fret about wardrobe malfunctions and other non news stories, in Canada we're adults.

Do you think the whole affair was a subconscious plan by our women? Women have been relegated to 2nd place in all of the commentary throughout the Games by press and TV media.
MENS hockey is the only Olympic sport that has spoiled millionaires playing on the teams and also providing analysis for the print and TV media. Look at the bench of 4 commentators giving analysis between periods on the men's game - did the women's team get the same in-depth effort from the media??
How could women make their mark? First - play an error-free blow away game - that was done in spades by both USA and Canada women.
Hummm..... That would not be enough - chatter on sports pages and within broadcasts still centered on the men. The only thing left was to ....... act like men!!! It worked!!!
The girls finally got the front pages everywhere - Well done - Great strategy!

Hooray for the Olympic Women's Hockey Team! Let them have their moment and how Canadian can you get with the picture of the two Olympians stretched out on the ice with a can of Molson between them? Can only Canadians appreciate this picture?

Seriously their actions aren't affecting anyone! What they wanted do to was perfectly normal as a way of celebration. We are taking this story way too far than it needs to go. If they would have just waited a bit longer then no one would have known about their actions. They waited for everyone to leave the arena also, so do we have no appreciation that they at least waited! Have a cow much society and who ever is pissed off about their actions
