Success is in the Star(s) for Harper

Today is Prime Minister Stephen Harper's birthday. Shall we check out his horoscope for the year ahead? According to the forecast in the Star....

If today is your birthday: A countdown is in progress. A big blast-off approaches. There will be some false alarms and misgivings, but your hard work and anticipation will be rewarded. This year, success is clearly in your stars.

Harper shares his birthday with Willie Nelson and this was also the day in history when George Washington was inaugurated as the first president of the United States.

Update: Liberal leader Stephane Dion wished Harper a happy birthday in the Commons today and the Prime Minister replied: "I am 49 years old today and I intend to remain at that age for several years to come."

Yup - the PM wants to stay 49 forever....by extension, I guess that means he'd prefer his birthday to become his personal "Ground-Hog Day" - because from that point, if the time clock ticks forward...it looks like a long, long, slippery slope...

When you face the Opposition daily in Oral Questions - you can dodge and duck and bob and weave - and as his sidekick "Chipmumk Cheeks" Van Loan knows - you can ingenuously respond to questions with total non-sequiturs...and Speaker Milliken will say nothing...
BUT, when you take on this formidable lady - she can hang whole governments out to dry....and trying to slip through a change of the rules to "emasculate her" ain't going to wash with the public...
