This just in....

Things have suddenly become very busy here in Ottawa, with two blockbuster bulletins from CBC.

1. The RCMP has reportedly paid a call on Conservative party headquarters, in relation to the so-called "in-and-out" scheme regarding 2005-06 election expenses.

2. The chief of defence staff, Rick Hillier, is stepping down.

#2 we expected, sort of. #1 is a bolt out of the blue.

The control on the message can only be kept for so long. Mr. Harper must be getting weary having to manage so many issues and breaking news. Every day we are reminded of what happens to bullies and control freaks when they exhaust themsleves.
Yesterday, Mr. Bernier, said out loud and to the world what his goverment wanted to control. Today, the Consevitive Party Office are finally open to the public and media and now General Hillier is taking the decisiion to leave his post, and now I will wait for tomorow or sooner to see what else will be made transparent for this goverment.
I just wish someone would generate a list of all the issues that this goverment is taking legal action to delay, stop, or dismissed from being brought forward.

As a politically-neutral person, I think the raid is a petty attempt to over-regulate, a curse which is plaguing Canadians of all stripes. If there is no rule preventing local politicians from spending party money, it is a non-issue, yet Elections Canada has used it as a political football to attack the government wih the RCMP no less. Just as governments must be transparent and accountable, regulators must act conservatively and within their mandate. There has been no accounting issue with where the money came from, but Elections Canada has used it to launch a fishing trip replete with a police raid. This is oppressive and ridiculous. If this kind of fishing trip is within its mandate, the mandate needs changing. Regulators are souring free enterprise and freedom generally. The electorate is used to sounding off against government, but this time I think we need to stand up for it.I would also like to know who tipped the Liberals on the raid.
