Wells on Dion

I'd been waiting to read this article -- I did last week as soon as Maclean's hit the newstands and can commend it to all. Paul Wells  has followed Dion's career for a long time, more closely than most, and he's put a lot of work and thought into the question of what's gone wrong with his leadership. It's now available online.

A tip of the hat to Paul Wells - one of his best pieces...
(I liked the tip of the hat he gave the "lady from the Toronto Star" - now who might that be?).
Dion's problem is that he wants the introduction of a constitution or a financial crisis to focus his attention...
having "conquered the intellectual challenge of the Environment" - it is no longer a challenge to him - but he expects the rest of us to naturally "get it!"
So what's left?
Can someone give him a kick in his pompous ass and remind him that the BIG challenge for ALL Canadians is to focus on unseating Stephen Harper before he does the damage to this nation (and potentially others) that his buddy George W. Bush has done to our neighbours to the south - and that in itself is the biggest intellectual challenge he will ever have?
There are many like me sitting on the sidelines because we left the party not trusting the establishment that had shanghai'd the party executive, and as of yet the current elected leader has done nothing to inspire us to roll up our sleeves and pitch in again to the greater good...

More than anything else, I think that reads like a reporter who's been gone for a year, coming back and summarizing what he sees after his first few weeks. Interesting for what it tells us about Wells' view of the situation, but it doesn't really provide any new insight or analysis.

Nice article. It can be summed up by the following sentence. Dion is a wimp who cannot speak english.
