Advice for Ignatieff
Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff is the most popular politician on Twitter, according to this new tally.
Still, some folks think he needs some strategic advice.
Richard Albert at thepolitic.com counsels Ignatieff to play up the team.
Norman Spector, in The Globe, says that Ignatieff's demographic profile (age, class etc) is working against him. I'm not really sure what the Liberal leader can do with that observation.

HOW MANY POLITICIANS ARE ON TWITTER.....AND WHO ARE THEY???
Play up the team?????Who is on his team that would impress us out here in the West?
Pie in the sky, platitudes and flippin' pancakes for the cameras do not impress us.

Why does Ignatieff NEED advice of any kind?
Surely he can come up with a few ideas on his own, seeing as he's been such a keen observer of the national and international scene. He has, hasn't he?
Perhaps if he were to outline in clear concise language what policies he wishes to implement … Wasn’t that what he promised at the end of the Liberal convention last May?

Curiously, Iggy's social class does play against him as far as I am concerned. I don't believe that he has any idea what it's like to be ordinary. Yet the Conservatives continue to demonstrate their frank hostility toward anyone who seems unable to find an income of least ten million a year (although it doesn't seem to matter whether the base upon which this income is built was inherited). One of these two parties will inevitably rule us and the choice is derisory.
Did anybody say 'proportional representation'?

"I'm not really sure what the Liberal leader can do with that observation."
What he can and should do is strive to be the type of leader that inspires people to look beyond demographics and respect people for who they actually are. There are idiots and bigots in all social classes and social class does not determine traits such as compassion, honesty,...
Harper makes it perfectly clear he has no interest in running a government which represents Canadians who do not vote Conservative. Harper would be happier if we all moved to another country as soon as possible. Ignatieff should strive to be the type of leader who knows that Canadians only have one government at a time and we are all worthy of representation.

Rather than rely on a site that does the math for you, you may want to do it yourself. First of all, they're counting both of Iggy's accounts (English and French) - only Layton's English account is there. Second, pretty sure the numbers are out of date. If you check the source (Twitter itself) I think you'll find Layton is ahead.
