Doughnut economics

Beyond the politics and optics of the Tim Horton's silliness this week, there are some real, economic questions to be asked, argues Erin Weir, over at the Progressive Economics Forum.  The two most important ones:

As a registered Canadian corporation, will it be paying any additional tax to the Canadian government? Will it be relocating any facilities or jobs north of the border?

The answer seems to be No.    And that raises a third question: why should "average Canadians" -- the voters to whom this stunt was addressed --  be rejoicing in a corporate decision to contribute less to the economy?

All the more reason to view the 'Tim Horton's silliness' as nothing more than another Harper stunt to deflect attention away from the real issue, his priorities.
