New Liberal shadow cabinet
Michael Ignatieff has done a substantial shuffle of his shadow cabinet. I'll do a subsequent post on this, but for now, here's the list (because I can't seem to find a weblink yet).
Immediate notice is David McGuinty taking over from Goodale as House Leader; Rodger Cuzner finished as party whip; Scott Brison replacing McCallum as finance critic. There are other changes too worth noting; coming soon.

So Goodale has been demoted. Usually the deputy leader does not have much of a role in how Question Period works. Its really a title only and answers for the leader when he is absent from the House. Ignatieff appears to be setting the table for being absent from the House conducting his townhall meetings this fall. That won't save him. Canadians have already made up their minds.

Have the Liberals officially thrown in the towel?
The most important cabinet position, the place where the natural next leader is
Scottie Brisson - Finance??? wow just wow
Then we have Dosanjh a lawyer in Health and an actual Doctor with ideas on health care -Dr. Keith Martin -one the better Liberal MPs that might lose his seat - with no role at all. Has Dr. Martin crossed back to the reformers?

Hollinm: Yes, Canadians have made up their minds. They're tired of an autocratic, GWB-style government that uses dog-whistle politics (like the Tamil migrant file) as an excuse to cater to their every-shrinking base. The Liberals are the new Progressive conservative choice in Canada.

hollinm is just jealous that the cons have no one with any talent at all to match the Libs

Ralph hasn't been demoted. Bob Rae has. As someone who watches Q.P. onsite many days, it is clear to me that Ignatieff has decided to move his main leadership challenger out of the limelight. Ignatieff is often not present at Q.P. and the deputy leader gets lots of action in the first key questions of the day. Ralph is a much more loyal comrade and friend to the Liberal leader.

BC Voice of Reason- Dosanjh was actually health minister.
Research, facts. So tricky.

What happened to Keith Martin? He was Critic for the Canadian International Development Agency, but has no position now.

Ignatieff better be careful. Canadians may think Goodale is the leader of the Liberal party.
Any exposure Bob Rae gets is a further reminder to Ontarians that they are still paying for his disastrous stint as Ontario Premier.
Hans....we will see who wins the battle in Question Period. McGunity will have his hands full with Baird. McGunity being front and centre will remind Ontarians they don't much like his brother.
BC Voice of Reason....hey if the government is all you say they are then vote non confidence and lets have an election. Otherwise your bluster means nothing. Put your money your mouth is buddy.
Donsanjh use to be health minister and he still doesn't know much about health care. Back to the future for him.
