The "close consultation" coalition
Today, in reply to questions about a possible Liberal-NDP coalition after the next election, NDP leader Jack Layton said that if Harper persists in "hypocritical" attacks on that score, he'll pull out a letter from 2004. Here is one I found on the web (note disclaimer at the bottom.)

Jack Layton is the most realistic in addressing the issue of inter-party cooperation in a minority governement situation.
Harper's take seems to be that what he did in 2004 was OK, but is really, really evil if others try to do it when he has a minority government.
Ignatieff talks of Blue and Red doors and hopes he has the chance to talk about cooperation in about six weeks' time.
Duceppe will do a deal with whoever makes the best case for Quebec ...
And we have a system that does not represent the people in our parliament, when we could have advanced our democracy through a proportional representation system.

Ah yes, because "close consultation" is the same thing as a coalition formally supported by the Bloc. Nice to see these knee-jerk liberal talking points already being circulated by "journalists" who say they're not liberal. May the games begin.
