Blogging will be light...

If you've landed at this page this summer, first, thanks! I guess it means you haven't given up on this blog....

Nor have I given up. I'm just taking a little break from blogging, for a few reasons: Sun15

1. It's summer. Though some folks are still (admirably) churning it out, it's been a rather intense year for politics and I think it's time we all took a little break. That's why you won't see any whining here about Stephen Harper or Jack Layton taking a little down time this July either.

2. As some of you may know, I have a book to  do. It's being published by Douglas and McIntyre next year, and I need to use some time this summer to crack the back of the research. Book publishers are still old-fashioned about that whole business of needing manuscripts from authors, so that's what I intend to be doing in the early morning hours when I normally would be blogging.

3. The main reason I'm suspending writing for a while, however, is the most prosaic -- I don't have a whole lot to say at the moment. When I do, I'm chatting on Twitter or writing in the actual newspaper that employs me.

This blog will be fullly back in business the last week of August, when I'm covering the Liberals' end-of-summer retreat in Ottawa.  Here's hoping this space benefits from the little break. Have a good summer, everyone.
