Strength and stability in action

There are some days when political news should be digested collectively, all the separate pieces part of a larger picture. Today is one of those days. I find myself thinking: what would Canada be like, if voters cared a whit about all this democracy, state-control stuff?

Documents show ‘harperization’ of government communications

Top former civil servants say the wording change marks a disturbing new trend in the politicization of the bureaucracy – and breaches both communications policy and the civil service ethics policy.

Political players calling the tune on DND's move

The Harper government has gone further than any previous government in its control of information, exercising political control over all communications by public servants, so that every bit of information that goes out the door is first considered for its political impact.

After the Tory witch hunt against the CBC, who’ll be next?

The answer to that last headline question, by the way, is "anyone." Hope that doesn't upset your day. Please resume whatever you were doing before the distraction of these reports from the front.

Dear CBC,

I don't know why I am writing this letter to you! I have been forced to write this letter by *%#$! To be honest I'm not bothered or sorry about the fact that I (am about to) burgle your house. Basically it is your fault anyways. I'm going to run you through the dumb mistakes you made...

Signed

I belong to Friends of Canadian Broadcasting in order to support the CBC. I don't trust this minister at all.
