Stupid meat!
Is it just me or does the entire city smell like meat?
Okay. I know. It's just me.
I have a meat aversion that I wish I could get rid of. Not only because I used to be a rabid carnivore and would like once again to delight in the wolfing down of animal flesh, but because the smell is making me crazy (more than usual!).
This week my doctor told me to "start eating" because I need to gain more weight.
It's just hard to shovel it in when I'm forced to leave out an entire food group. Ya know?
On the upside, this same doctor told me I could eat anything I want - in moderation. Even sushi.
That's the best news I've heard all month!

Do you have anything positive to say about being pregnant? I just found out that i am pregnant and you are scaring me!!

I love this blog! I'm also 14 weeks along with my first (so you must also be due in the latter half of April) and I find the humour and sarcasm deeply refreshing. Such a welcome change from the preaching of the minivan majority. Keep it up!

I also had a major meat aversion when I was pregnant...I could NOT go anywhere near chicken my whole pregnancy. Then during the last wk or so before my baby was born, I craved chicken and was dying to go to Swiss Chalet. So weird!!

I am into my 19th week now and I still have an aversion to chicken. I see it in the store and I just want to run the other way. It used to be my favourite protein source. Now that I am in my second trimester my morning sickness has picked up the pace, and I seem to be sick at least four times a week. So much for it tapering after the first 13 weeks.

I'm at 10 weeks now - and at a meeting in Buenos Aires. Every night we have dinner at a bbq restaurant with hunks of meat everywhere.. :( Not to mention the inexpensive, wonderful wine that I am unable to partake in but that smells more delicious than usual. I hope that by the second trimester I'll be able to eat normally again! Keep up with the blog - your honesty is refreshing.

I had the same aversion to chicken (and no one warned me either! Was warned about cravings and morning sickness - ah well.) Lasted for about 8 weeks. It was so silly, couldn't even go near the meat department in the grocery store or drive past Swiss Chalet or KFC! I worked at a daycare and when they made chicken soup it got really funny just what I'd do not to let the kids see I couldn't eat it! It was awful - I existed off of chicken before this.
The one day, some one offered me a quesadilla with chicken in it and I didn't get sick from the sight or smell - it was a happy HAPPY day! I ate 3!!!
Aversions are nasty but thankfully they end. I'm just very very happy I didn't lose chocolate!!!

Um, you might want to check that sushi thing. The reason you're not supposed to eat is is because a bad piece could have bacteria or parasites that can cause miscarriage. Moderation has nothing to do with it-a bad piece and you're SOL.

The food aversions are so weird and so irrational. I can't stand the sight or smell of "meat" but for some unknown reason I can eat meat that doesn't look it or smell it -sometimes.
How strange, huh?
I made sheppard's pie the other night and wolfed it down. But the mere thought of a hamburger is sickening!
And I can't even think of going near chicken. Even chicken filled raviolli!
Why is this??
