So long, Hassan, we hardly knew ye.
To the surprise of no one, the Raptors jettisoned swingman Hassan Adams in a tax-saving move on Wednesday afternoon, shipping him along with "cash consideratons" to the Los Angeles Clippers for a future second-round draft pick.
By losing Adams's $711, 517 salary this year, it allows the Raptors to get back under the luxury tax level, a level they exceeded with the addition of Jake Voskuhl last month.
No one is saying what the "cash considerations" are but you can bet they are close to, if not exactly at, the remaining monetary value of the Adams contract. And no one's saying precisely when the Raptors will get the second-round pick from the Clippers because there's probably enough "protection" on it to make it virtually impossible to get.
But that's the big deal of the day. Sorta pales in comparison to the hoopla of this morning, doesn't it?

shoot, he was our number one cheerleader
here's hoping jawai, hump and one of ukic/solomon can step up to the plate

He had the opportunity to play during garbage time but its pretty much evident that he's out of shape. Goodluck Hassan! Prove them wrong.

Yeah, it pales in comparison, but I'll take it any day over the one that was floating around this morning. That was a great move by Colangelo. I'm surprised he found anyone willing to take him because to me it looks like he just can't play. Period. So well done.

Damn, the guy was so entertaining to watch when he was jumping up and down from the bench, I really liked him. I think, at the very least, he's a great locker room guy. I wish him well.

doug about the pick the raps get, what do you mean by "there's probably enough "protection" on it to make it virtually impossible to get"? that kinda confused me when i read it.
on a side note, should be entertaining tonight to see the battle of mike james and his understudy will solomon.
Blogger's note: The Clips could have insisted that if it was in the top 55 this year they keep it, the top 45 next year they keep it, the top 40 the next year they keep it, and so on.

Looks like the Clips waived Hassan, sucks for him.

Who's going to do the manly pre-game hug?

Why would the Clips toss away a pick just to waive Adams? What exactly does that do for them...or was this a favour to BC?
