Hardly worth the drive. It makes me glad TSN2 is not available

Is this the Low Point, there past Rock Bottom, the Raptors are heading to the Basement. Emotions are running High, players speaking out to the Media about each other. This is a Horrible Situation I Tell you, no trade is helping them this Season. By the Trade Deadline it will be to Late for anything to Happen in regards to making a PUSH. This Roster needs to get overhauled from all this inconsistency. I just believe that certain players have alot of flaws and its exploited game in and game out. Who out there can't scout the Raptors, there struggling with Perimeter D, offensively just play Zone and make the Jumpshooters SHOOT. I Doesn't take a Genious. If the Raptors need a consultant, let me know, keep me posted.LOL

Having backed off of my own personal Raptors-Mania this past week as my own little experiment of a sort - no watching or reading – as MY choice, as opposed to dancing like a monkey being ‘shocked’ by those who arbitrarily (it would seem) draw up television schedules for Raptors fans like myself, living in the GTA, I found myself waking up just now (sometime after 3 am), soaked, for reasons-not-known (slighly fevered, perhaps), and firing up the online sports section, to replay the game-blog to catch up on last night’s fun in Motor City and there I see … same old - same old … I suppose.

But … the reason for this particular late-night/early morning missive here, is really only to muse (publicly) about the off-season, international play of our highly-paid professionals that we (here in Toronto and surrounding areas, mostly) carry the freight on during the regular NBA season (their main source of annual income) … and to offer a comment if I may, only to suggest that … as ‘important’ as those off-season, international competitions are (apparently) to those players who insist on participating … it has seemed to have cost Toronto Raptors fans quite grievously, over these last two or so years. At least, it seems so, to this fan, at this moment.

I hope that they stop that nonsense one day.

Those competitions should be left to amateurs, only, in my opinion. It’s too costly to those fans who pay most of what it costs in upkeep for those coveted professional athletes. International play is probably not as athletically-thrilling when watching amateurs compete … but it is often every bit as entertaining. To see the pros there showing off their skills, might be more of a massive ego-feed, than it is, truly important for their respective home-nations … in my book, anyway.

I hope when I awaken in the morning, this doesn’t read as gobbledly-gook.

Go Raps? Ok. Go Raps.

I see Nate got in the game. Good for him and I hope he enjoys his NBA experience.

As for the team in general it looks like a very long year. Hopefully everyone gets a good rest over the all star break.

We miss Nate, didn't we?

Oh yeah, nobody give a damm now if they put all remaining games in TSN2....well done!

Doug Smith's Sports Blog

  • Doug Smith has been a sportswriter for more than 30 years, a journey that's included seven Olympic Games, numerous and varied championships and more dreary regular season games than he'd care to remember. Here, he'll talk about them all, as well as current events and pop culture. (Just don’t ask him about music nowadays — it's not his cup of tea).
