Doug Smith has been a sportswriter for more than 30 years, a journey that's included seven Olympic Games, numerous and varied championships and more dreary regular season games than he'd care to remember. Here, he'll talk about them all, as well as current events and pop culture. (Just don’t ask him about music nowadays — it's not his cup of tea).
What about Patrick O'Bryant to TO for Will Solomon?? (late-breaking, I know, but a trade nonetheless. There's also another one, Rafer to Orlando, but who cares about that.
Pat O'Bryant becomes another big off the bench. Big at 7 and 250, originally drafted 9th overall by GSW, still has never seen real minutes in the NBA in 3 seasons with GSW/BOS, $1.5m salary. Whatever. At least he fills a short-term need, and we get him basically for free.

Marc Stein: " The Kings have also agreed to a minor deal with Toronto in which they will receive guard Will Solomon and cash considerations for a future second-round pick.:
Interesting. Ha. Crazy deadline indeed.

So which is it? Maybe Boston traded him to the kings afterward and they are confused?

No thoughts at all? It's all pretty accurate and one of the major problems with this team.
Blogger's note: No, I think people are entitled to their opinion, my opinion remains that Calderon's one of the top eight or 10 point guards in the NBA.

Who is Tim Chisholm and when did TSN ever have a basketball expert on staff? As a point guard Jose has to be in the top five. Simply look at the stats and yes they do keep stats for a reason. Everyone is on the Mo Williams bandwagon but he is around 50th in the league in assists and yet he is blessed with playing for an elite team which makes everyone think he is great. Why is he not in the top 2 or 3 in assists? When people talk about Jose's defense do they ever consider, not who he can guard, but who can guard him?

I guess you did have a thought about it after all. ;)

D. Walker,
A lot of people have been able to guard him this season actually. Jose doesn't get into the paint, very rarely gets "lay ups" or "dunks" for teammates and, honestly, is one of the worst defensive guards in the league.
And yes, defense DOES matter...if you score 20, and the guy you're guarding scores 20, whats the point of being on the floor? Keeping in mind, the opponent probably has about 10 assists considering he's getting by Jose on every play.
