Doug, you say of the Toronto Star generated twitter blog thingy...

"It's a Star-generated item to alert people ONLY when I update the blog; it has NOTHING to do with me and at least offers information rather than garbage stream of consciousness mini-thoughts"

This seems, especially if one has subscribed to the rss feed of your blog, to be entirely redundant. Why even bother, it isn't in the spirit of twitter, which you don't abide by anyway...don't do it.

Blogger's note: I don't do Tweets. Never have. It's computer generated, which was my point. Of course, if I thought anyone in their right mind really cared that I thought today was a nice day or that I was having anice linguini with a white sauce for dinner, I'd be all over Twitter. If I get breaking news, I'll post something here so the greatest number of people can see it.

I gather you are not a James Joyce fan?

Blogger's note: Not a huge one, no. Hemingway and Dickens would be more my taste

Doug Smith's Sports Blog

  • Doug Smith has been a sportswriter for more than 30 years, a journey that's included seven Olympic Games, numerous and varied championships and more dreary regular season games than he'd care to remember. Here, he'll talk about them all, as well as current events and pop culture. (Just don’t ask him about music nowadays — it's not his cup of tea).
