Doug Smith has been a sportswriter for more than 30 years, a journey that's included seven Olympic Games, numerous and varied championships and more dreary regular season games than he'd care to remember. Here, he'll talk about them all, as well as current events and pop culture. (Just don’t ask him about music nowadays — it's not his cup of tea).
here's mo williams 2 sided story in today's postgame:
at one point, he says, none of you media guys could have said we would win 66 games in the season, swept 2 teams in the first and second round and been in the eastern conference finals .....(something like this)
but after that, a media guy asked lebron did not address the media after the game, looked unhappy, dejected etc...and asked a question...
mo williams replies: you know, we were supposed to be in the NBA finals, so obviously, lebron is upset, and we are all upset....
isn't this a 2 sided story ??? (for the record, i thought cleveland would be in the NBA finals at the start of the season)
also, first thing mo williams says is the "officiating" at the start of the conference....

also, now its twice in 2 years that cleveland does not shake the opponent's hands after a series loss: against boston last year, and this year as well...classless comes to mind for me, but feel free to disagree..

A Wallace retirement would also give Varejao added leverage in contract negotiations this summer. As a restricted free agent last year, Varejao sat out nearly half the season due to a contract dispute. He's unrestricted this year and his agent, Dan Fegan, is likely to seek a long-term deal worth about $10 million annually.

I HOPE THAT'S A TYPO...($10 mil annually for varejao!!!???)

Lebron is a GREAT player. The most talented player in the history of the sport. His play was fantastic all season and particularly strong during this series. However...
There is absolutely no excusing a player of his caliber not congratulating the Magic at the end of the game. That is just terrible sportsmanship. To make matters worse, he ran away and left his teammate (Mo Williams) to fend for himself in front of the media. So much for being the best teammate in the NBA.
I can't even imagine what the reaction would be like if a player with a less Teflon reputation (like Kobe) acted so unsportsmanlike. Lebron needs to learn that if he is going to accept praise for the great things he does, he also has to be man enough in the face of adversity to not just run away like Carmelo did when he punched Mardy Collins in MSG.
