See ya in a little bit

All right, folks.

Time for a wee break over here, much anticipated and pretty much needed.

May be back with a travelogue near the end of the week, could have some time to do a mailbag for the weekend and, who knows, there could be news sometime but we’re on vacation vacation. Not sure when, or if, I'll get to comments this week but I'll give it a shot sometime; don't take it personally if it takes a little while.

Super Family’s done the Sea Wall and Stanley Park aquarium, two things I can knock off the list, but there’s a whole lot of Vancouver-Whistler-Seattle-Victoria left to do (including The Forks, which was the genesis for this entire endeavour thanks to the reading habits of others) so I plan to be a bit busy.

See ya later.

you know how you have always not regarded leo rautins and chuck swirksy highly...

well leo rautins' canadian team beat mexico 95-40....now they might not win the rest of their games and qualify for the next big thing....but you should respect leo rautins more...

Blogger's note: Don't put opinions in my name that you only surmise. Thanks

doug

dallas morning news is reporting the banks/carroll swap is dead. What have you heard, of course enjoy your vacation get to this when you get back.

Blogger's note: I will, thanks

Doug, I'm a transplant: I grew up in Mississauga moved to Vancouver for University in '92, but follow you're columns/blogs regligiously. If you got time, I'd love to take you for coffee while you're here! If there's one thing the west coast has on the rest of the country it's great coffee....that and the avg rainfall ;) Let me know what you think or if you have time. Thanks for the blog, and have a great break/vacation (when in Whistler, do the zip lines and the peak to peak gondola ride).

Blogger's note: Did the peak to peak, it was exceptional. Back in Vcr Sunday after a day or so in Victoria; have had many a coffee already :)

Booooo, you suck.

Blogger's note: Does it make you feel smart, or particuarly insightful or funny, to type stuff like that? Thanks for adding to the discussion

He was joking Doug. Instead of making yourself look too old, you should've just removed his comment...

ESPN has conducted a poll of 51 Basketball writers as part of their season preview and asked them to vote for a series of honours including "Team Turnaround", "Team Turmoil", Best Newcomer and Worst Newcomer.

The Raptors got only 2 votes for Team Turnaround and actually received one vote for Team Turmoil!

Now I am no basketball writer, and I probably have the rose coloured glasses on as a Raptors fan, but that just seems ludicrous to me. I mean the Clippers got eight votes for Team Turnaround!

To add insult to injury, Hedo received just as many votes for worst newcomer as he did as best newcomer.

Doug, please restore my faith in basketball writers and give me a Team Turnaround, Team Turmoil and Best & Worst Newcomer that actually makes sense.

Blogger's note: Not right now, it's vacation time

dear J and siggian:

hey doug, hopefully you are enjoying your vacation with super family...i said that because reading your blogs for months (years ?!?), it's come to my notice that you don't hold a strong liking towards leo rautins and chuck swirsky...that's why i inferred that thought of mine...

hey, did you hear an Arsenal player (soccer) got charged by UEFA for diving and the referee fell for it and awarded him a penalty kick... i remember that play....hopefully, in the NBA if a player dives sometimes more than once, the NBA will take notice and fine the player....

Doug Smith's Sports Blog

  • Doug Smith has been a sportswriter for more than 30 years, a journey that's included seven Olympic Games, numerous and varied championships and more dreary regular season games than he'd care to remember. Here, he'll talk about them all, as well as current events and pop culture. (Just don’t ask him about music nowadays — it's not his cup of tea).
