Bosh begins a bit banged up?

A guy goes to a golf tournament a little bit of news breaks out.

Still awaiting official confirmation but the chatter is that Chris Bosh may be nursing a tweaked hamstring and could sit out the start of Raptors training camp next week.

The word out at the foundation event this morning is that it’s a setback, not huge, but still not a great way to get the season underway.

It’s unclear exactly how Bosh, who I’m told spent a lot of time this summer working on his body and his game, got himself a little banged up. But he is and now they have to deal with it. I do know he’s been in town a few days going through workouts and scrimmages with the other Raptors.

We’ll get more on this later today, I imagine, but just thought you’d like to know.

Be back when I can.

Hola Doug

Yikes! Not the news that anyone wanted to hear. This is a "legit" story right? Not some "I tweaked my hammie" kinda excuse for a 165 yard shanked drive deep into the woods?

Cheers Dude,

Blogger's note: It's legit

so thats two ou of five ... I hope this won't be a trend this season.

oh god! not a hamstring injury, anything but a hamstring injury.

wow that is some bad luck for the raptors, I hope this is not a sign of things to come or this is gonna be another long season.

Probably the worst news that could come out today. With Hedo also "banged up", I hope this is not a sign of things to come for such a promising season!

Thats it! The season is OVER!! Trade him trade him trade him!!!! We could get a late first round draft pick for him, no?

Oh My! The comments are gonna be fun to read today! I take 12:01 in the pool of "how long until the chants of 'Trade him now- before he's worthless to us'" begin!

well let's hope this doesn't end up being one of those things that will lead to a string of other problems. calderon was a "little banged up" too and we all know how that turned out for us...

Oh great, 'tweaked hammy' is the absolute last line Raptors fans want to hear after how it nagged Jose last year.

jesus christ...not good

Raptors are talking about defensive improvement as the key to this season. So i find it fascinating that they are leaving their quality defensive players on the bench. The starting unit needs the defensive help. Yet they are saying they intend to start Derozan. He was very, very weak defensively in the five summer league games i watched. Seems a defensive minded Wright is made to order for that starting unit. Offensively he drives the lane, passes the ball, doesn't require touches and runs the fast break very well. I'm curious what your perspective is on this plan Doug.

Blogger's note: For reasons oft-stated, I think it's absolutely fine to start the kid.

This could be the start of a really crappy season if bosh isn't a hundred percent... but at least this isn't the first week of the season and thankfully the pre season is ridiculously long... where still more than a month out.

Hi Doug,

Am I the only one worried that CB4 is a bit fragile???

Hi Doug,

Any idea what the average recovery time for this kind of injury is? Or does it vary too wildly depending on severity?

Thanks!

Blogger's note: No idea, sorry.

I predict about a trillion insane comments.

CB4 and Hedo should sit out for the remaining time till season start

Hamstring injuries if not fully healed and rested can take months to recover from. This is bad news because if Bosh wants to start the season at 100%, he would have to avoid any running or jumping during the entire training camp and preseason. I know from personal experience and with what happened to Jose last season.

Hi doug i just wanna start off by saying that you are one of the best basketball writers there is, and i know, i read alot of basketball articles. and also i like that you inform us of whats going on with canadian basketball. maybe if we get canada basketball some attenion from the media and put a decent team together kids might wanna play for team canada when they grow up.

anyways as for the article, hopefully this dosnt turn out to be a calderon incident.

WHAT?? season hasn't already started and Bosh is making excuses, smells very familiar to VC wanting to sit out, and we all know how that turned out... HAHAHHAA kidding.

Please ppl, thats soft. Bosh and Hedo will be ok. Stop going awall.. holy crap.. i dunno Doug, look what you have done? Raptor Nation is going bonkers.

The sound of a flock of sheep trotting out the usual kneejerk comments.

Well, well...my prediction is that this news about Bosh being less than 100% will drive the Angst-O-Meter reading right off the chart and straight up into unknown territory.

Oh No! Woe betide us. The seasons over! THE SEASONS OVER!!!

= )

See Doug, this is why they shouldn't let players do international work. People playing Euroball leads to people starting the season injured. I guess the critics were right.

Sure, he didn't play, but it's gotta be karma.

(yes, that was all sarcasm)

I read on Yahoo today that the new Russian billionaire is interested in hiring Maurizo Gheradini. Is there any truth to this?

Blogger's note: I don't know, they do have a past relationship, so I figured there'd be some quick speculation. Let's wait to see if the deal in Jersey closes first

are you kidding me? this is the last thing i wanted to hear today. lets just hope that it actually is "just a little tweak" and not a big issue. stay healthy guys!
