It's going to be a long season if the Raps don't start rebounding the ball better. It's been very one-sided the entire pre-season. Bosh and Bargnani who will be playing the bulk of the front court minutes are both similar players in that they love to hang out by the 3-point line. Who's going to rebound? Reggie is one man and NO, one man does not shore up the toughness level of a team. This team is just too fundamentally flawed. Doug perhaps you can comment on the importance of rebounding?

Blogger's note: It's important and, in six games so far, they've been out-rebounded three times, out-rebounded the opponent twice and tied once. It wasn't good at times last night and won't be at times in the regular season. That's a fact. But it's not the huge mess it was a year ago and something that will be less of a problem this year.

Doug.. thoughts on tonight.

Re:Triano. That was an unequivocal embarrassment in the second half.

Yes they were scored upon at will previously and perhaps it was aimed at the first unit etc... i get it...

But, imposing his will on his players, or the 2nd unit or whomever... for whichever reason he deemed appropriate. For that long. Unacceptable.

Jay forced the few thousand of us who pay thousands of dollars for seasons (the only ones there) to watch an embarrassment filled bunch of tired, under-qualified players waste almost an entire half of basketball. They felt it... we felt it. They were too tired and uninterested to even shoot. Very sad.

Left me feeling underwhelmed and lost of the small amount of faith in the way he goes about his business.

  • Doug Smith has been a sportswriter for more than 30 years, a journey that's included seven Olympic Games, numerous and varied championships and more dreary regular season games than he'd care to remember. Here, he'll talk about them all, as well as current events and pop culture. (Just don’t ask him about music nowadays — it's not his cup of tea).
