Doug Smith has been a sportswriter for more than 30 years, a journey that's included seven Olympic Games, numerous and varied championships and more dreary regular season games than he'd care to remember. Here, he'll talk about them all, as well as current events and pop culture. (Just don’t ask him about music nowadays — it's not his cup of tea).
Have we gone too far the other way? I don't see MIA and ORL as "pretty winnable games". Both are playing well, and VC is always a Raps killer.

Doug people around this team always point out Andrea, Hedo & Jose's defensive struggles. but i'd bet a years pay that CB4 allows Boozer to go off for 30 & 10 tonight. Basically my point is that the talk around the team is always about how the team sucks at defence. So how come we never hear about Boshes lack of defence? sure he rebounds great, but when is the last time he locked in on D & shut down an opposing player? i've watched Kobe, James, Wade, D. Howard all focus in on stopping guys on D. but since he played for the U.S in the olympics I can't recall one game where Chris really seemed focused in on stopping a certain player on D. no doubt chris is a GREAT player but I think on a good team the D needs to start with the teams leader. and in my opinion so far that hasn't happened.

from your post-game blog: "He’s a likable guy and all but, really, his popularity is not commensurate with his talent".
That's dead-on accurate, and an unfortunately common trait among Toronto sports fans - undying love for the hard working mediocre player, while unfairly bashing the star.
Play Jack, sit Calderon (and trade Bosh!)
Love Domi, bash Sundin.
list goes on and on....
Its a ridiculous attitude that has to stop - but a good topic for your next top 5 list! "The Inverse Fan Love vs. Talent" group.

"The Magic just need him to fill in for point guard Jameer Nelson, who is now officially one of the most fragile players in the NBA."
--
its funny, the orlando sentinel news reporter (george diaz) is calling jameer nelson one of the most fragile players in the NBA......whaaaaaatt?? does that make any sense or what? i mean its his knee that's having a surgery for a torn meniscus...how is jameer nelson fragile?? its worse than toronto i guess...

Were you getting any weird looks from people?
"Why is that guy talking to his computer" kind of thing
