Doug Smith has been a sportswriter for more than 30 years, a journey that's included seven Olympic Games, numerous and varied championships and more dreary regular season games than he'd care to remember. Here, he'll talk about them all, as well as current events and pop culture. (Just don’t ask him about music nowadays — it's not his cup of tea).
Hi Doug,
Did you really mean it when you said that Jay breaks a clipboard three times a year, or do you mean that he looses his cool that many times? I have not seen anything like this untill today, and I have to admitt, I was impressed by it. I like when coaches show their passion, happy or not...
Blogger's note: No, that's legit. Two or three a season

Hi Doug,
I missed the game, but saw the statistics and read over your in game blog. I have to give credit where credit is due. I wrote to you earlier saying that I didn't believe this Raptor's team could defend the top 3 point shooting teams like Orlando, but, although they couldn't make a few crucial stops, they did defend well, and held Orlando to very respectable percentages.
So, credit where it is due, you were right Doug. You said it wouldn't be a problem if they played their defensive system correctly, and you were right.
Thanks for all you do!

Hi Doug,
Can't argue with the better team won statement. However I think the way they lost this one was at least competitive and they had their chances to win. Much better performance than the first game. Also I think it is worth noting that their defensive specialists with the exception of Johnson were all sitting on the bench which can't help. It should be fun to watch these guys when healthy. I don't know if it is realistic to home in on a play to point out lack of hustle as most teams are gulity of this many times through a game.
