The Goods On The Game, Pacers at Raptors

Hi, everyone.

Back for another night.

Should be a high-scoring affair so buckle in.

Doug, I'm torn. Torn, I say. I was up screaming at my television set again tonight, and it was the Italian Stallion, as usual. Troy Murhphy is a notorious 3-pt shooter, especially against the Raps. Every time they play the Pacers, Murhph lights it up from outside. So what does Bargs do in the 4th quarter. Not once, but TWICE he leaves him so wide open at the three pt. line that I swear Murphy must have felt agoraphobic. But...then he hauls down two HUGE offensive rebounds and makes a bunch of key shots just when the Raps need them. The guy's focus just seems to go in waves; sometimes it's intense, other times non-existent. Man, if this kid could ever keep up the intensity from quarter to quarter and game to game, he'd be an all-star for sure. Till then, I see more screaming in my future.

I missed the game, but looking at the boxscored, DeMar seemed to have a great game, but only played 10 minutes. Did he get hurt?

Blogger's note: No

Great first half of of execution on the offensive end. The ball was moving and everyone was involved. Despite what Jack , Leo and Matt say on the telecast the thing that slows down the Raptors the most is when they constantly try to feed Bosh in the post. Every thing slows to a walk and the rest of the team on the floor becomes stagnet. This happened last night when the Pacers made their run and Bosh missed 4 or 5 shots in a row. Let Bosh get his points in the flow of the game.

Is there a worse call in the NBA than the "and one"? If a player makes a basket there should be no foul shot. If he was fouled he would not have made the shot. The worst part of NBA ball is the foul calls. In the Miami game Bosh would get to the ball and be fouled---back would come Miami and Wade would get fouled going to the basket. All it was was a foul shooting contest with little or no flow.

Doug Smith's Sports Blog

  • Doug Smith has been a sportswriter for more than 30 years, a journey that's included seven Olympic Games, numerous and varied championships and more dreary regular season games than he'd care to remember. Here, he'll talk about them all, as well as current events and pop culture. (Just don’t ask him about music nowadays — it's not his cup of tea).
