Did you steal "From Me and Mine to You and Yours" from a Christmas card? I like it. Maybe you should be in the card making business?

Gah, missed the chat!

Happy holiday to you and yours as well. Safe travels back to Hazelville.

In your column today, you spoke of the coach "reigning" in young players. I don't mean to be a nitpicker, but kings reign over their subjects and when the rider pulls on the reins of the bridle, he reins in the horse. I'm sure it was just a mental slip on your part. I'll not mention what I think of the spelling of the people who post here, I assume that English is their (not "there") second language. Then vs. than?

Blogger's note: It was a mental blip, spelled it correctly today; made a mistake yesterday

Doug Smith's Sports Blog

  • Doug Smith has been a sportswriter for more than 30 years, a journey that's included seven Olympic Games, numerous and varied championships and more dreary regular season games than he'd care to remember. Here, he'll talk about them all, as well as current events and pop culture. (Just don’t ask him about music nowadays — it's not his cup of tea).
