Doug Smith has been a sportswriter for more than 30 years, a journey that's included seven Olympic Games, numerous and varied championships and more dreary regular season games than he'd care to remember. Here, he'll talk about them all, as well as current events and pop culture. (Just don’t ask him about music nowadays — it's not his cup of tea).
Doug I wish you and your entire family a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!! Off to Vegas on Boxing Day for a fun weekend. I'll try to catch the game on Sunday (if I'm up or maybe I won't have gone to sleep yet!).
Safe drive back home. All the best Doug!!!

Doug,
Those cancelled shots at the end of the third were probably the most excitement in the game, judging from the reaction of the fans around me. The one by the Pistons -- which got me muttering about the Raptor defender not getting in close and putting a hand up -- gave the Pistons fans something to cheer about, and when they took it back and the Raptors hit a 3, it was devastating. Too bad they didn't let either shot go through.
The Pistons fans seemed pretty demoralized. That or there were a lot of Raptors fans around me. I heard plenty of clappy on every good Raptors play. Actually, if it wasn't for our fear of getting clocked in the head by some obnoxious Pistons fan (one of the guys behind me was particularly annoying), we probably would have been much louder.
Loved the jam by Bargnani!

"He was definitely trying to get where he wanted to get on the court. I was just trying to use my length and experience and use my mindset defensively to try to hold him scoreless as possible."
i would like to know if the last sentence makes any sense whatsoever....its none other than mr. lebron (cry baby) james

hey doug, wanna do a one on one comparison on lebron vs kobe (in your blog) based on: perimeter shooting, pure scoring, making teammates better, primary defender, secondary defender, impact in transition, rebounding, intangibles..... like david thorpe did http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/insider/columns/story?columnist=thorpe_david&page=KobeLeBron-091223 i would love to hear your thoughts on this (apparently david thorpe thinks lebron is a better perimeter shooter than kobe....)
