31% shooting - an awful performance - complacent - yet again playing down to their opponent - but of course, Doug Smith insists they're trying, and won't criticize... Big surprise.

The zone D is playing better now but still I saw occasion break down from Hedo and Barg. They are just shifting too slow, it's good that the Wolves are not a great shooting team, otherwise, the result will turn out ugly tonight

well if anyone ever doubted Calderon's contribution to this team tonight showed it!
Good ugly win and this is a team that needed to show it could win ugly -- big win because of that, CB4 showed true leadership, Jack and Turk kept fighting through, the rook showed he is for real and Bargs showed he can play great D even when fighting for his offensive rhythm.
Yep, not pretty but big.

Safe journey Doug, we are going to get it again here in NB-maybe the same storm you are going through.
Right on Graham, I couldn't agree with you more. One of the best bad games I have seen them play, maybe ever. Lots of intestinal fortitude in a game they could easily have laid down on after winning 2. Doug you mentioned about the booing and that resonated with a comment on another in game blog. The question was "where is the home court advantage in basketball?". The comparison was to baseball and hockey, i.e. last at bat, last line change. Players have stated it many times I believe-the crowd. Those who are quick to boo might be starting a self fulfilling prophecy. Just look at HWSNBN and how he is motivated as a visitor and how the home team might be asking themselves "why am I busting my hump to be booed?" If you think it is all about the money you have never played a sport. If it was just money rec leagues would not exist. All the best and keep safe.

Doug Smith's Sports Blog

  • Doug Smith has been a sportswriter for more than 30 years, a journey that's included seven Olympic Games, numerous and varied championships and more dreary regular season games than he'd care to remember. Here, he'll talk about them all, as well as current events and pop culture. (Just don’t ask him about music nowadays — it's not his cup of tea).
