Doug Smith has been a sportswriter for more than 30 years, a journey that's included seven Olympic Games, numerous and varied championships and more dreary regular season games than he'd care to remember. Here, he'll talk about them all, as well as current events and pop culture. (Just don’t ask him about music nowadays — it's not his cup of tea).
"Great save by Amir out of bounds but a rather crazy toss into the middle of the court gets picked off "
------
he's falling out of bounds....do you want him to save it under his own basket or throw it to the other side which is towards halfcourt....
--------
"Turk makes a three
I will resist.
It'll be hard, but I will "
--------
yea, he makes a three finally after playing bad the whole game (yea don't take abt his assists), he looked out of the game the whole game....he finally threw the ball in the ocean.....
Blogger's note: This is almost too easy.
Johnson saved the ball under Boston's basket and his pass led to a Celtics break so your facts are a tad screwed up.
The Turk comment was in reference to one a minute earlier suggesting he be taken out of the starting lineup, which is perhaps the most ludicrous thing I heard all day.
Please, if you're incessantly going to nit-pick, please do a better job.

I'm glad I didn't watch this game first hand. The way you wrote about it my head might have exploded. Raps playing good D and the Celtics making tough shots left right and centre, Refs apparently turning there whistles into anti-raptor weapons. I watched a couple of highlights and I think Raptors must have collectively broken a mirror or crossed paths with a black cat before that game. Yikes. I just hope their professionalism doesn't let a game like this get to them.

your column on this game was not the best one you have writte,,...your love for all things Boston shows tru loud an clear.....this game wasn't about a ":better' team, they had it to 4, a missed shot and anotehr missed rebound, Hedo yes he had 9 asssits but we need more then 5 points from him an the amazing 3, or whatever yuo call them were far better then you let on....Johnson in fact sohlud have been out there as a defensive replacement in the play i mentioned ....you should excuse yourself from reporting on any Celtics game as frankly you do a pathetic job...
Blogger's note: Boston's exponentially better, the Young Guns were invisible and I think "pathetic" is a pretty strong word. But whatever...
Excuse me now while I go change out of this Patriots sweater into my Revolution jersey

Is it just me or there a lot of "junior" refereeing crews working Raptor home games? I have a theory - the referee assignments are doled out by the union, and the refs with seniority don't have to come to Toronto as often.
Of course that means we get inferior refs, ones even more psyched out by the Celtic thugs.
Here's a suggestion for the All-Star game - instead of East vs West - how about the Bloods vs the Crips.

"patheitc" may be a strong word so let's go to unprofessional...you state on here and on your questions asked segment...that you have no favorites, you do....you should just excuse yourself from all things Boston...you were ticked when Jackson surpassed Auerbach, yuor top players of all time are all celts...come on, give it a rest....if your going to do yuor job and report on a game do it, Hedo needs to produc emore, they need to rebound and Jay has to doa bettter job of not only coaching in regards to reading situations...but getting on his players, Doc rivers does it, phil jackson does it, in fact my one memory of last years playoffs was phil walking down the sideline and reaming out odon for a missed defensive assignment...the Celts are not exponentially better....report professionally, not with your heart...or let Feschuk do any and all celt assignments as you can't do them...
Blogger's note: The Celtics are exponentially better and just which part of: "Hedo Turkoglu struggled, making just two of nine shots that mitigated a team-high nine assists he doled out" did you miss? And if this is such a trial for you, tell you what: Take April 7 off, save you the angst.

"What the Raps need to do is get into Boston's bench, I don't think the C's have a lot of depth" (Goods on the Game)
----------
"Impenetrable and unbeatable.
Too tough, too deep, too good." (Your article post-game)
I guess the C's ultimately do have a lot of depth
Blogger's note: Another nit. Another pick. Yawn. Bench scoring: Toronto 26; Boston 15.

Well, I read your blog after the game, so I mistakenly thought you were referring to the play that I had in mind.
BTW, in the post-game (Raps-Celts), some journalist asked Jay Triano a question, and Jay replied "I don't know...I don't know.....um I don't know", do you remember what the question was?
Blogger's note: Yes, it had something to do with what impresses him most about Boston or something like that; caught him off guard in a post-game moment. Nothing more, nothing less

Nobody hates the Celtics more than I do, from a historical pespective right up to today. But I've never detected any Celts bias from Doug Smith. I would have sniffed it out if there was anything. But even I can recognize that the Celts are a better team. I just wish the refs weren't so damned intimidated by them.

Typical performance by a Toronto pro-sports team - wanting the win to be handed to them because they feel they're entitled. Coach reacted too late on many levels. Time to sit the sleepy Turk.

Just when you think you have turned the corner... this happens. Go figure.
