Doug Smith has been a sportswriter for more than 30 years, a journey that's included seven Olympic Games, numerous and varied championships and more dreary regular season games than he'd care to remember. Here, he'll talk about them all, as well as current events and pop culture. (Just don’t ask him about music nowadays — it's not his cup of tea).
Jack A makes the point that nobody's on the offensive glass but I think he'd realize that's not a bad thing, given the transition issues if he had a second to think
---- yup, doug is right (always)
doug you are kidding me.....j.holiday was not toronto's second choice...it was either james johnson or gerald henderson

To follow-up on some of the discussion from last night's in game blog. The television broadcasts this year, from a production standpoint (i.e., camera angles etc.) have been pretty bad. They must have some new director or something because at least once a game someone decides to ditch the traditional camera and opt for a sideline camera or a "novel" angle. It is really difficult to see the action at the opposite end of the court when you are forced to watch from the standpoint of the baseline camera guy!
Also, I've noticed more than a few times this year that the camera will display stats or will be zoomed in on someone's face on the bench while the game is in progress. When Belinelli made that buzzer beater (that didn't end up counting) at half-time a few games ago (I forget the opponent) the TV audience didn't get to see it live because the production director hadn't switched back to the game camera yet! That sort of stuff is unacceptable.
I've written an email to RaptorsTV about this but if you could also say something to someone Doug, that would be great.
Thanks as always

It’s true what you say, Kyle S. I often get the feeling that those in charge of the tv production are just not big enough fans of the game to really know how best to do it.
Glad that you, Doug, saw a bit of that for yourself last night. Good game-blog, btw. Really enjoy reading it after the fact. It’s like a fast rerun with brand new commentary. Always enjoy it.
