What you need to know of Ed Davis, and a bit of an update

The Raptors have stuck to their script and taken the player they deemed best at any position when they drafted Ed Davis with the 13th pick in Thursday's NBA draft.

The word on the 6-10 North Carolina power forward is long, athletic rebounder; coming off wrist injury but the Raptors aren't worried about that

Looks like a solid if unspectacular pick who was projected to go quite higher than No. 13.

Son of Terry Davis, who played 10 years in the NBA. Said his favourite player is Chris Bosh, too bad he was drafted to replace him.

We'll be back with more later on.

Well, here's the more:

The word I got from someone who I trust when I asked whether Davis was picked to be traded was:

"He's not going anywhere."

The interesting thing is the Raptors did not have him in for a workout; they asked but he thought he'd be gone by No. 13 and didn't accept the invitation. Toronto did interview him and see him work out at the Chicago pre-draft camp.

If colangelo doesn't make another deal today is this considered a successful draft day? (in your opinion)

Blogger's note: Probably not, no. But they did get a pretty solid No. 13 pick.

Who saw this selection coming. The Davis pick was not expected. I hope there's something brewing. What are they thinking, that's all i got to say.
Patterson, Babbit, Damion James, were on the board. Davis did not even workout in Raptor camp. What are they thinking.

Hi Doug

Alot of people are suggesting that Davis did not look happy when he was selected. What are your thoughts?

Blogger's note: I was typing and texting; no idea. And really don't care what he looked like, he's got no say in anything

Evening, Doug,
How's the pestering coming along? And how late will the evening go? Do draft night deals have a 'last call' time slot? Tippin' a Griffin Red to ye, sir. Cheers.

Blogger's note: We're here 'til midnight I bet

Said his favourite player is Chris Bosh, too bad he was drafted to replace him.

why do people just assume bosh is leaving.....remember, toronto can offer him the most number of years and money....$30 mil is not a joke

i don't see the raptors in the second round. when do raptors pick next?

Blogger's note: As of now, they don't

Do you think Davis will get any minutes this season or will he be a D-league guy?

Blogger's note: Oh, no. He'll be here and play

Hi Doug! So it was passport issues that prevented Davis from working out in Toronto? Hmmm...I wonder whose passport gets stickhandled through the system first: Matt Bonner's or Ed Davis'? :) Do you believe that the "Canadian tax issues" was a topic raised in that first media session by some reporter?

another player who doesn't want to be here. why pick him if he refused to come here for a work out?

Davis dropped further than he thought and lost a bit of money in the process. You think this could answer his indifferent attitude in the immediate interview Doug?

Sneak in for Alabi?

Doug, I'm 21. Am I still growing into my body??? I few more cm and muscle perhaps??? Or is it different for 6"9 Guys?

Doug, you say that you dont care if Davis wants to be in Toronto because he has no say. Why would we want a player here that is unhappy? Look at Turks

Blogger's note: "It's a great fit," Davis said. Please, disregard body language interpreted through a TV screen.

Ed Davis you are drafted by the Raptors looking forward to playing with your favorite player Chris Bosh. The only problem is Bosh is leaving so you get to go to war with our other 7 seven footer....Ed Davis:".are you kidding me please trade me to the clippers nothing can be worse than this" (lol)

Is your spidey sense still tingling? Where's the big move?

ed davis said "my favourite player chris bosh... WAS there"

Any guys still on the board you think the Raps want to trade for?

I think BC made a big mistake passing on Patterson. We'll see I guess. Cringe worthy interview by U.S. reporters telling Davis to make sure he keeps all his receipts and get ready to pay a lot of tax. No passport? What else is new...guess the Raps will hold the introductory press conference in Buffalo this year.
What a joke.

Just a thought on Davis "not looking happy"... he's just a kid on the biggest stage he's ever been on, probably a bit shell-shocked at everything.
And since he was expected to go earlier, you can imagine how he might be a little shaken up, but also was probably happy that the Raptors stepped up and wanted him. Come on, Toronto fans, do we really have to beat up on him just a few minutes after he's drafted?

do you think its legit that Davis declined a workout just because he though he would be picked earlier?...any whispers of moves?

I'm losing faith in Bc trying to add another pick ! Yet other teams are picking up trades or picks left and right ?

Hey Doug,

Looks like Ebanks is still on the board. If the raps get that second pick is he their likely target?

Would other NBA teams rather deal with a stateside team instead of the Raptors because we are from Canada? This is in terms of exchange rates, legality issues with trading picks etc.?
it just seems that last year we were so much more active.

Also, does it seem like BC is managing the draft ordeals better last year than this year?

Don't understand the argument for Patterson over Davis.. Ok Patterson is a more polished scorer but Davis has 2+ more rebounds and 2+ more blocks on his season averages.. Don't we want a more defensive minded player?

Doug, are you surprised Alibi has yet to be selected?
