It's not much but it's what I've got
Just out of a Bryan Colangelo scrum after the Amir Johnson news conference and the latest on Chris Bosh isn’t sexy but it’s news.
According to the president and general manager, there are “things under consideration” to get something in return for the departing all-star.
No specific details, of course, but the suggestion is that nothing will become close to official until after LeBron James announces his intentions later Thursday night.
Bryan did say he wasn’t at all surprised that Bosh left – who was? – and that now that the Raptors know where he’s going, they can get down trying to see if there’s a deal out there with the Heat.
I know there is all kinds of stuff out there floating around about multi-team transactions and this and that, I can assure you that if there’s a creative way to salvage a couple of assets out of this for Toronto, the Raptors are exploring them.
All right, have to get a couple of things written before sitting down to watch the TV show and respond accordingly.

Seems like BC shouldn't have much to consider. If someone offers something, he should take it, even if it is Beasley's expiring contract.

Are you as exhausted with all this free agent malarky as I am. Just a few more hours and the 'King' (of megalomaniacs) will announce how he will shape the NBA for the next half decade and we can all take a breath after being held hostage for a year. Doug did you catch the Bosh=Vince garbage on NBA.com last night? Why are you the only blogger on the topic with sense and self restraint?

Doug,
I know it's last minute, but any chance for a live blog during Decision Thursday?
Blogger's note: No, sorry. I have to write off it and will be too busy.

We all know that there are only 2 available players in Miami that the Raptors can acquire? Chalmers and Beastley. In the event, that they get Chalmers, that would mean the team will have four point guards. Jack, Calderon, Banks and Chalmers. As our insider, who do you think has the biggest chance of being traded?

With Bosh gone, there are many calls from the Raptors fans of firing Colangelo? Do you think the GM should be blame on how he handled this Bosh saga? Can you pinpoint on what he did wrong or what he didn't do resulting to the franchise player's transfer to another team without even much consideration on his former's team for 7 years?

Thanks a lot for the update man
... might seem like nothing, but some of we sharks circle waiting to hear something like this.
-Hopefully soon we can start dreaming about who we can use our TPE on ... Monta Ellis? Tony Parker? Andre Iguodala? Kirelenko? Posey and Collison?
... Okay, i'll stop now ... BACK TO WORK!

Doug, any truth to the four way rumor between the Raps, Heat, Houston and Charlotte? Would any team cooperate with the Heat if Lebron does end up there?
Posted by: Parminder | July 08, 2010 at 03:15 PM
With Bosh's departure, who will be the proclaimed franchise player or go-to-guy on this team? Will it be Andrea or Hedo?
Posted by: Pipit | July 08, 2010 at 03:16 PM
With the current line-up that the Raptors have, who do you think will be the starting five?
Blogger's note: No clue. Calderon, DeRozan, Turk, Bargnani, Johnson?

Maybe that explains how the Miami Heat have reportedly offered Mike Miller 5 yrs/30 million deal. If Bosh is acquired through S&T then Miami would be able to keep their available cap space to sign other free agents?

For the first time I actually feel sorry for you. Being made to watch 59minutes and 45 seconds of the Lebron Show... Can't your union do something about those horrible conditions!!!
BTW, I have Lebron going to Miami in the office pool mostly because I think it is too much of a coincidence that the Wade / Bosh thing and the Lebron TV thing broke at kinda the same time and led me to believe that they each know where the other is going, as well as the fact that CB seems to have committed to the Heat without a dollar amount, years or any info on the contract he is going to sign cause if he did it would give up that Lebron was going to the Heat and Lebron wanted a TV show. Do you like my chances in the pool?
Posted by: john | July 08, 2010 at 03:29 PM
Sorry, but another post... do you think that Lebron will have the owners of the Heat, Bulls, Cavs, Knicks and Nets in the same room together so that when he breaks the news we can see their reaction? You know, kinda like draft night when you see that poor young kid crying cause he dropped into the second round? Now that would be good TV...no?
Blogger's note: It would be cool

Doug,
This is good stuff! Thanks for getting that out so soon. There seem to be some reports out there that say Bosh declined the sign and trade so that more money would be available to round out his new team.Could you get a sense from what Brian was saying as to whether it's the Raptors who will decide whether they do the sign and trade or not based on what assets are coming back - or if it's the Heat/Bosh who will decide whether or not it happens. Thanks,
mp

How about a live chat during the blog? I think it would be fun to have a virtual support group to help us through this time of misery.
Posted by: Orenthal | July 08, 2010 at 03:47 PM
Well I guess that's something. Are we going to have an in-game (or in-decision) chat for tonight? It'd be interesting to see who is still watching after the first 10 minutes.
Blogger's note: No, we are not. Will be too busy

Those comment by BC dont sound to reassuring regarding the sign and trade possibilities. Lets just take Beasley and a signed Alonzo Mourning jersey and call it a day! That will still be way more than the Vince Carter deal!

doug has this been the craziest free agency period that you can recall?

Mike Miller:
"Maybe that explains how the Miami Heat have reportedly offered Mike Miller 5 yrs/30 million deal. If Bosh is acquired through S&T then Miami would be able to keep their available cap space to sign other free agents?"
Nope, no difference in that respect.

I am loving all this attention and news around the free agency. Instead of Doug telling us "another day of no news" we get constant speculation, fun articles and sources confirming then denying!
Doug you should be loving this! I mean it will like milking cactus' for water after this week in NBA news, and that's just way too boring!
Posted by: Sean P | July 08, 2010 at 04:04 PM
are you going to do a live blog on 'the decision'?
Gosh, this is probably one of the worst moments in NBA history. Talk about regulating a professional organization to a live , circus of tweets. Im waiting for Lebron to dye his hair orange and blue and for bosh to put on a funny hat! Serious basketball fans will always remember this as a low moment in the NBA and probably will not like Lebron much after this (especially if he and the other two still fail to win a ring).

Damon
Tracey
Vince
Bosh
Hedo (in process)
and to some extent Antonio Davis
Doug, what is it about Toronto that makes our stars want to leave so badly? And what can anyone do about it? I'm so tired of this.
Posted by: AJR | July 08, 2010 at 04:08 PM
"Captain Calderon", eh?
fan reaction to that ought to be worth a few laughs around here
Posted by: Tiger | July 08, 2010 at 04:10 PM
I'm done with the NBA if LBJ signs with the Heat. It will be like watching the Harlem Globetrotters in a league against 31 Washington Generals franchises. It will be a joke!
Posted by: Shawn Hart | July 08, 2010 at 04:12 PM
This from Bill Simmons ESPN makes so much sense:
If one more person refers to Bosh as a "superstar," I'm going to scream. His résumé: seven seasons, 11 career playoff games, one second-team All-NBA selection, never played in a big game in his life other than the gold-medal game of the 2008 Olympics. Now he's fleeing frigid Toronto for South Beach, no state income tax, Dwyane Wade, max money and the playoffs … and this makes him a "superstar"? Did we really drop our standards that low?
Posted by: Pete | July 08, 2010 at 04:33 PM
This team is depressing I'm going to root for whatever team I like as I did before this franchise existed. The decision making up top better improve cause I've just about had it with this.
