Doug Smith has been a sportswriter for more than 30 years, a journey that's included seven Olympic Games, numerous and varied championships and more dreary regular season games than he'd care to remember. Here, he'll talk about them all, as well as current events and pop culture. (Just don’t ask him about music nowadays — it's not his cup of tea).
Love how Bargs is being aggressive looking to get his shot off over the smaller Diaw and challenge shots on the defensive end. Its fun to watch such a important must win type game this early in the season.

Triano is BEYOND TERRIBLE! What kind of plays is this guy running? Why in the world is our best scorer playing less than 30 minutes a game?
Blogger's note: Would that be Bargnani, who played 38:21 Wednesday and averages a team-high 33:14 a night?

Doug
I'm not sure but I think we may be watching history unfold. Throw in some injuries/flu like whatever and this team has the ability to break the all time record of wins for the season. I believe it stands at 16 games and is well within reach by this team. A couple things have me confused
- I'm sorry but Jay should resign. Why suffer thru this. Of course if they fire him, he still gets paid. For his sake maybe they can work out a buy out.
- Now I hear the GM picks the players. How in God's green earth can this man get an extension. Only in Toronto can building the worse team in the league justifies an extension.

One more time troops How many times must I keep repeating PLAY AMIR MORE I keep saying give him 25+ n he will give u a double double like he has been doing last 3 games n preseason n last of last season, The guy would have won the Shooting percentage last year if he had just a few more shot attemps but due to limited playing time it didint happen same this year over 67% from field n 90% FT ,leader in offensive boards, blocks , screens opening for drives, steals, altered shots fsatest release of pass from defensive board in league n not one mention how well he is doing except for a snide remark from writers like gee AMir has only missed 2 ft WOW great reporting guys.He didint even get into game 1st qtr until 3rd minute wonder what he might have contributed n maybe help a W for the Raps. Reg does Reebie well but AMir does also plus put points on board n that is bottom line lets hope the T man plays him more then the scorelss one
Blogger's note: Last year, Marco; this year, Amir. There's one family member every season it seems.
