« The Goods On The Game, Raptors at Grizzlies | Main | Hello from Dallas, where the TV choices abound »

December 28, 2010

It's too early to type, here's a synopsis for now

You know, the plan to get the 3 a.m. wakeup call to rise and shine and finish off the morning missive sure sounded good about the middle of the third quarter Monday night.

But then reality – and sanity – took hold and the allure of the extra 90 minutes sleep was too much to pass up.

So if you’re here for the daily dose of what passes for insight and entertainment, you’re going to have to wait until sometime around noon Eastern time when I’m firmly ensconced in the Dallas hotel room.

Trust me, it’ll read a little bit like this:

THREE POINTERS

Memphis bad, Toronto beaten up, saw result coming a million miles away

And in other stuff:

Fun, frivolity and a trip down memory lane.

That’s the Cole’s Notes version (they still have those?) and the real stuff will be up later.

Enjoy breakfast.

May the basketball gods deflate my biceps for even suggesting this heresy, but with the benefit of hindsight would we have been better to trade Dorsey plus cash to the Hornets instead of David Andersen, so we could have extra length to deal with teams like the Grizzlies if Bargnani is out?

Get your rest Doug. Home for the holidays and the grand daughters are kicking our butt. Amazing how a 12 pound child can command some much attention :-) So Dirk is out and was wondering what effect (if any) it will have on tonight's game. The team was thin to begin with and the injuries have just made it worse.

Happy New Year!!

Borrowing a theme from Chris Bosh, if you're a Cogeco cable customer, Raptors games this week aren't on TV in Canada, so they're not really happening and none of it matters. And when play resumes next week, the games will matter less to fans than they used to - an unfortunate consequence of MLSE's TV arrangements.

Why bother, Doug.
There's really not much to say.
It was a pretty dismal game.

Blogger's note: Because it's what they pay me to do and, apparently, you care enough to check

Doug Smith's Sports Blog

  • Doug Smith has been a sportswriter for more than 30 years, a journey that's included seven Olympic Games, numerous and varied championships and more dreary regular season games than he'd care to remember. Here, he'll talk about them all, as well as current events and pop culture. (Just don’t ask him about music nowadays — it's not his cup of tea).
