Doug Smith has been a sportswriter for more than 30 years, a journey that's included seven Olympic Games, numerous and varied championships and more dreary regular season games than he'd care to remember. Here, he'll talk about them all, as well as current events and pop culture. (Just don’t ask him about music nowadays — it's not his cup of tea).
A lot of fans disguised as empty seats !

Not down on Calderon, quite the opposite, I like him. But with this young team a few years away from contending and Jose nearing 30, don't you think the Raptors owe it to him to move him to a playoff team so he doesn't spend his prime years in purgatory? Make the youth movement complete

The tv coverage didn't show which bonehead on Indiana took (and made) the last-second shot. The camera was on the Pacers coach's face, and he grimaced in embarassment when it happened. Who took the last shot? Gotta hand it to Jay for trying to call the timeout with 0.5 second left, though.

The LA Clippers have a 'youth movement' underway– with Jordan, Griffin and Gordon.
The Raptors have, well... nothing, really.
I actually kind of like watching Amir and Ed Davis (and Jerryd Bayless for a strange reason), but I can't think of any Raptors who are exciting to watch.
Sure, DeRozan throws down a dunk now and again, but so did Darius Miles.
Youth movement, schmouth movement.
I'll take an old guy who can play any day.
I'm kind of heartbroken that the Raps never did all they could to get Steve Nash here. I know, I know. Why would he sign here? (Besides coming to Canada and reuniting with his old mentor Triano)
Still, I've always thought it would only be good for MLSE to have Nash in the organization in some regard.
(shrug)
Ramblingly yours,

Umm... GO RAPS!

hmm once again Amir leads the way with 18 n nice #'s all the way around n not one comment about what he is doing from ink stain wretches he is averaging 15.7 8 reebies in last 10 games n no one seems to take notice but if Reg had these #'s it would be written as the 2nd coming. Sure would be nice to have Reg back on boards but are u going to sit what seems to be the most consistent scorer on the bench AMIR also once again the best +- on the team Belive me +- tells a story who seems to get it done and shouldnt be discarded like Smith thinks. When trades are considered +- is one of the most important stat that is evalued
