Doug are you less likely to criticize Jay becasue you're friends with him, and played on the same national-winning youth baseball team?

Blogger's note: No

You played on a national-winning youth baseball team with Jay? The things you learn reading this blog! What position did you play? And how about Jay? Were either of you any good (i.e. ever harbour any hopes of playing professionally)? As for your comment about how you'd be very surprised if Wright were here next year, is his contract up after this year? And wouldn't you think that the only Raptor who could be considered anything close to being a lock-down defender would be someone you'd want to stick around, notwithstanding his limited offensive game?

Blogger's note: Ever hear of a good-field, no-hit outfielder? That was me. Jay? He could play a bit

doug one of your best live q and a's ever, you seemed to be pussy-footing around questions less.

p.s. for someone who works 6-7 days a week on basketball you sure have precious little to tell us (other than what we already know of course)

Blogger's note: Then do me a favour and go away

Seriously, where do some people get off saying things like this? I mean, even if it were true (which it CLEARLY is not), does it give you some type of enjoyment to rip a hard-working journalist (and all-around nice guy), manap3000? Oh and have you kicked your dog yet today, maybe slapped your girlfriend too? I mean, why stop at Doug? And if you don't like what he writes, how about making a constructive suggestion that you think will improve the (already high, IMO) quality of the blog? Or simply not bother reading! Sheesh.

I wish Bargnani was a 6'9" small forward with the same skill set so people would not complain about his rebounding every time the Raptors are brought up.

I'm going to miss the first part of the IGBT, but I was hoping that when I scroll through it later tonight, or tomorrow, that I would be able to find your prediction of who you think will win, oh, and maybe how much you think that team will win by.

That would be great. Thanks!

Hey Doug,

I'm going to talk about how much I hate the Raptors. And I'm going to tell you how much of a lousy journalist you are. Both of them so much so I feel compelled to tell you and the team how terrible of a job you do every single day.

Hey, wait a second? I keep reading a lousy journalist's blog about a team I hate?

Maybe I need a role-model.

Oh Leez, I got a good laugh out of that one. ;)

Doug Smith's Sports Blog

  • Doug Smith has been a sportswriter for more than 30 years, a journey that's included seven Olympic Games, numerous and varied championships and more dreary regular season games than he'd care to remember. Here, he'll talk about them all, as well as current events and pop culture. (Just don’t ask him about music nowadays — it's not his cup of tea).
