Talk to you sometime from somewhere
Well, the Tuesday afternoon direct Delta flight from Indy to Atlanta turned in a Wednesday morning direct Delta flight from Indy to Atlanta.
Except not so much.
That then became a very early USAir from from Indy to Charlotte to Atlanta.
Except ...
The doors to the Indy-Charlotte plane were frozen shut and it was Indy-Washington-Atlanta.
Except ...
The Indy-Washington plane was in the hangar and couldn't drive over because the ramp was too icy.
So ...
Now I'm about to board an Indy-Philly flight, if they can connect me there to get me to Atlanta in time for the game.
So ...
I'll talk to you sometime from somewhere.

Good luck to you and your glamomor filled postion of Beat Grunt!!!

Keep thinking happy thoughts Doug.

You know this can end in only one of two ways, right Doug? 1. You don't make it to Atlanta and the Raps break their losing streak; or 2. After the kind of travel day you've had, you finally get to the arean 5 minutes before tip and the Raps proceed to lose by 45.

That is just brutal Doug. Should we expect a blowout loss if the team doesn't get in until this afternoon. Read they were still stuck as well.

Hang in there Doug!
The snow and ice CAN be a friend: it helped the Russians defeat both Napolean and Hitler; in the US Civil War, near Nashville, snow and ice helped a major Union victory over the Confederate forces 145 years ago.
There wouldn't even be a game of basketball if Naismith had not been asked to develop a game for play in winter weather.
Your travel delays are trying to tell you/us something! I predict your greatest "3 pointer" section ever following the Atlanta game.

What does one do when Stranded in Indianapolis?
Hope you had a safe trip - Driving in my neck of the woods (North of Toronto) was slow but relatively stress free

Have you paid close attention to see if anyone is following you around with a camera to record your responses?
Good luck at Philly. It's just brutal. They cancel flights because of raindrops...

Wow, That is a brutal travel schedule. Its too bad in situations like this you cant travel with the team...or maybe that would send you into a writing slump. I was brave enough to wear my Raptors shirt to the gym yesterday (but I live in Halifax so not that brave I guess) when I was shooting around and I thought to myself:
When the raptor broadcasters say something like "Bargnani is a poor decision maker when he puts the ball on the floor" it probably is the thing about his game that bugs me the most, because in the next breath, its "not many 7 footers out there have the ball handing skills, ability to take the ball to the basket, ect". This has always been the reason why we drafted him right? No doubt he has game, and you cant replace 20 a game that easily. But seriously, how can he still be making bad decisions consistently, like the other night in Indy when he drove baseline with no where to go, no way he was getting to the rim and stepped out of bounds. He never looks to hit a cutter (If there is one, lot of standing when he gets it). You would expect that from a rookie. Surely they are going over game tape. Surely the coaches have been "coaching him" since he got here. So what does that say about Il Mago? To busy thinking about his next pregame pasta, or just a very slow learner?
There is no way that any of us with regular jobs would keep making the same poor decisions over and over, year after year. (and get a few million dollar raise), with no effort half of the time on D. You say he did well at the end of the Bucks game, and he did! So if he can do it then, he should be able to do it every night. Its effort. Anyone who has played knows sometimes the ball wont fall no matter what you do, but you can always give effort.
I dont want to trade him. I dont want to fire Jay because he hasnt ever had a full squad this year, as Ed Davis was even hurt in Training camp. Im sure he would love to run the ______ out of them right now, but he cant. So us loyal fans who are still acually watching (like the guys in suits but only beause they have to) want to see some the same heart and pride that we show when we are cheering for the HOTH from all parts of this country.

Doug,
I hope you reach ATL safely! As for the above comments from Chris C, I totally agree. I don't want to trade Bargs but at least show some improvement in handling the added pressure. His passing, blocking and post up skills appear to have declined this year, and his overall effort isn't there. I turned on the Indy game and I saw McRoberts miss his shot, retrieve it over Bargs than dunk on him. Then, on the next play, I saw Granger do a right handed finger roll in Bargs' face. Foul the guy at least!!!!!! I predicted early on that this would be an extended losing streak because I don't believe Bargs even has the mental toughness of Bosh (and that's not saying much) to carry a team for long stretches of a game. Though Derozan is definitely a developing starter, he's not at the stage where he can carry a team consistently, although he has shown signs.
I am not one who believes firing B.C. is the answer (we need stability) but he has to help Jay out by making good use of 1. the t.e. & 2. Assets in Evans, Barbosa (& hopefully Jose) 3. the first and 2nd rd picks. As for the game in ATL, it could get ugly real quickly if they don't bring the proper intensity....

Geez, Doug - have you considered just walking out to the runway and sticking your thumb out?
Posted by: TLI | February 02, 2011 at 11:28 AM
Maybe you can find Ed Davis. Because Triano sure had issues the other night.

Chris C = Loyal Fan or Only idiot who still thinks bargnani is a starter in this league
Blogger's note: Name calling is always a classy retort

That sucks Doug - I hope you have an good book to distract you from the madness!

Bargnani's play will not improve anytime because he plays scared. He's scared to get hurt, he's scared to foul anyone, he's scared to foul out. I've never seen him do a hard foul on anyone. Never. That's why the opposing team most likely will run a play against him because he can't guard a lick. Did you see that game against Milwaukee? The first 6 points in the overtime period was scored by Bogut against him. On the next Milwaukee possession after that, Johnson was guarding Bogut.
He may show some flashes of brilliance once in a while but that's it. Maybe after a "long talk" with the coaches but the tendency is for him to go back to his old, lazy ways. Like what Jack Armstrong said in one of the telecast, he becomes a spectator. Leo Rautins also said in another telecast that if Ed Davis could do those things like go inside, fight for rebounds and other things that a big man could do, Bargnani could also do it. No, Leo. He can't. Because he doesn't have the heart.
Bargnani is an easy target for the critics because he was anointed as the leader of this team when Bosh left. And he provided nothing in terms of leadership.
You can 'Yawn' now, Doug.

I believe that Andrea is still hurting. He cannot get up because his knees will not let him! I wish that you would all think before you speak. There is hardly a "sound" body on the Raptor's team and that creates a huge problem when trying to rest players.
