And now for a little Raptors news
Guy goes to do football and basketball breaks out.
It appears the Raptors are actually getting some work done during the NBA lockout.
According to league sources, they could name Ed Stefanski the executive vice-president of basketball operations by the end of this week.
I’ll get back with more as soon as we can.

"I’ll get back with more as soon as we can."
You mean as soon as Woj from Y! Sports reports it so you can make it seem like you have sources Doug?
Blogger's note: Yawn. Go away. Please

So just to get some clarification, in the future should my frustrated rants be about Colangelo or Stefanski?
Blogger's note: What about Andrea or Jose?

Way to go for being one of the first to break the news.

Cool - can't wait to find out what an EVP of Operations does for a living!
@Tarball: do you really want everybody to know you read Y! Sports? ... yahoo...

Didn't our trustable Star reporter tell us Stefanski was out of the race? Nice sources... Confirm with Adrian next time..

Yawn...another re-tread with a spotty history of success and failures. This isn't directed at just the Raps, but every team who just recycle the same group and then can't figure out why they get the same results. In the Raps case, you'd think an organization that is so successful at failing might dare to try something different. But why be innovative in pro sports when the $$ comes no matter what you do. Sigh...to be a Toronto sports fan...
Also, I'm pretty sure (as someone else mentioned), that the Elton Brand signing is not considered a success by anyone (how much you want to bet he gets amnesty'd in the new CBA by the 76ers??). In fact, did Stefanski even draft AI2, or just re-sign him (which really isn't much of feat, and it's not like he's a be-all, end-all player). Good on him with VC though....that was a masterpiece by any standard (though I suspect Babcock was more to blame the Stefanski was to credit. He probably drunk dialled poor Rob and couldn't believe he said yes!!)

It will be interesting to see how this effects the role of the other "higher ups" in the front office. I'm thinking that at long last Jim Kelly may no longer be the head scout and running the draft. Not sure where this leaves Maurizio.
Blogger's note: They had both been re-assigned in July

thanks for mentioning this...but to me it is much ado about nothing.... his role although title is different would be not much different then Ujiri's was I imagine, so some have been saying or are confused by BC signing a extension, but then hiring a "new" guy as though there was something shady going on, it's Ujiri was never replaced, so all remains the same in my eyes....

Funny how the ball bounces, Eh?
Tyson Chandler is traded to the Raps...wait a minute, no he's not.....
Ed Stefanski isn't coming to the Raptors - but should be signed up by the end of the week.
I sometimes think the instant gratification that prevails over the news cycle is the worst thing to happen to the media....Things Change.
Doug, my friend - you have a thankless job.

Yawn as Doug might say.
Makes zero difference if BC still has veto on any moves. More like a consultant, unless he has duties that are community based as well ( ie charities, Raps Foundation, PR etc....) that free up BC to focus 100% on player moves and such.
Yawn indeed, wake me up December 1st when half of the players cave because they cannot make house payments, car payments or buy new anything.
