Doug Smith has been a sportswriter for more than 30 years, a journey that's included seven Olympic Games, numerous and varied championships and more dreary regular season games than he'd care to remember. Here, he'll talk about them all, as well as current events and pop culture. (Just don’t ask him about music nowadays — it's not his cup of tea).
ANy chance of improving the non grunt test size? They are the clients after all.

Hey Doug, the coach says james johnson didn't play the right way....do you have any idea on what happened in the last game he played to warrant the DNP-CD's?
Blogger's note: That's not what he said: "We’re going to build a program the right way, we’re going to do things the right way and we’ll go from there,” said the coach

Amen to your assessment of the singing of the national anthems. Nobody should be allowed to sign our national anthem in a way that the fans can't sing along.

Two questions Doug:
1. Re. the James Johnson benching. Don't you think an NBA coach has an obligation to specifically explain to the media and a team's fans why he benched a perfectly healthy starter for discipline reasons. Arguably Johnson's benching cost the Raptors the Cleveland game. With so little to cheer for this season, four in a row would have been nice.
2. Re. Jamaal Magloire. Why can't a 7 footer who has played basketball at the highest level make an uncontested layup? And I thought Reggie Evans was offensively challenged. Is there any future for Magloire in To.? I hope not.
Ron
Blogger's note: I think a coach has an obligation to do what he deems best for his team; and if that's a de facto suspension -- without loss of pay -- and if he wants to keep it in-house, I have no issues with it and there's not much I, or anyone can do except ask questions, as we have.
Every player at every level of basketball misses layups
