@Om
I'm sure Doug and Brian for that matter will have their reasons, but it took me a while to get my head around whether Steve Nash was more than an emotional decision. I have come to to conclusion that yes we want to build a team and there are a few young guys and a couple of rookies that might make a great team down the road. So why not get someone like Nash who has helped lots of people learn to play the game and to be good. In a year or two, you can then get a good young PG who can learn from him. That gives you the team to be successful. Just a thought.

It saddens me nobody mentioned medicare or any of its creators (e.g., Tommy Douglas). I never understood the full value of universal health care until I moved to the U.S., where the number one reason for personal bankruptcy is health care debt (look it up) and where people with ANY health care needs (children, illness, injury, prescriptions, elderly patients, labor-related risks) live in quiet but constant fear of losing their insurance coverage or not getting covered for some procedure, examination, or hospitalization. This adds to constant anxieties around staying employed at all costs. Even though I have 'above average' coverage through my employer, I know I'm potentially one serious injury, illness or condition from being financially ruined. (I won't even begin to touch the 50 million uninsured.)
Health care coverage isn't glamorous, but it's at the beautiful heart of Canada.
