Doug Smith has been a sportswriter for more than 30 years, a journey that's included seven Olympic Games, numerous and varied championships and more dreary regular season games than he'd care to remember. Here, he'll talk about them all, as well as current events and pop culture. (Just don’t ask him about music nowadays — it's not his cup of tea).
Doug, I don't mean this out of frustration. But all Raptors media members, such as Ryan Wolstat and Holly MacKenzie have now consistently commented on a variety of the team's deficiencies and provided alternative solutions for the team such as firing and trades. Yet you do not go to that extent, and in fact remain positive to some degree after consecutive losses. I just want to inquire why that is, and do not imply anything more than that. Thanks.
Blogger's note: Yes, maybe they do. Not everyone has the same style. Mine, I would suggest, is a tad more subtle. But to each their own. And I will not criticize younger members of the media corps that cover this team

Listening to BC on the broadcast was a little hard to take. He said that the team doesn't have a lack of talent, only a lack of focus. Disagree about the talent argument. Again here he goes not taking any responsibility for constructing a team that is 4-17. He's blaming the players that he brought in? Talent wins in the NBA and maybe they have not "focused" but there have been many games where they play hard and just aren't quite good enough to win.
One of my favourite things he said was that the team shouldn't of won so many games last year and that's why (in part) the team looks so bad this year. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?!?! What a pathetic thing to say, they were not successful last year at all.
I've learned that he is good at being convincing, but he's also an artist. Not impressed.
